Rears...this somewhat goes to the LS1 crowd

My rear in my iroc is out of an '01 T/a...who i purchased off of a member on here.

Posi works great...however on decelleration around slight bends and such...i hear a clicking coming from the rear area. Any ideas?

I'm kind of curious to see if this is normal or something i should be worried about or what.

mine sounds entirely too consistant to have any teeth gone in my pinion...plus i dont beat on it much and the ring/pinion looked perfect when she went in...but if thats what happens...ah well.

im running my stock iroc wheels...dont have any pics right now (well i do, but they still need to be developed. sticks out dead even with the fender lip...i think it looks mean.

you say spider gears but what type of posi is it? Most 4th gens have the torsen chunk. Mine would make that noise when it was chunking up pieces of metal from the posi itself. Have fun.

Noise from the rear is generally not a good thing Dan. Grab some new fluid and change it, take a look at the gears while it's apart to see how they look. Make note of any metal particles in the gear oil that you drain out.

My 02 Z Has been doing that since a month after i bought it, And now 4 years later and it still makes the same noise, I did take it to the dealer twice and they told me it was common noises with the rear and the 2nd time which was May of 05 i made them open it up because i didnt want any problems before my warranty ran out and they opened it up and called me out in to the garage and showed me everything and had a mechanice point out everything and they said it was in 100% working order and not to worry all though it still makes the same clicking noises on coasting turns and ect.. i have never had a problem with any area of my rear on my car, So maybe it isnt anything to worry about
