no more hyundai for me

hey guys as some of you may know ive had a black cloud over my 2010 hyundai genesis coupe 2.0 Turbo

well on my way to nc i had an issue start. both myself and the tech who took test drive with me thought it was a wheel bearing.

come to find out the rear diff was messed up causing a vibration up the driveline to to front of the car.

well they said "not going to be covered because your tires are worn down and are like slicks"

well i said screw this. rear diff out of pocket would of been at least $2k for hyundai to fix.

plus some dbag backed into my car before i left jersey. so that stuff and needing 2 new tires was going to run me an easy $4k out of pocket.

so i decided to part ways with the car before it got to be too late.

well i wanted a tbss, gto, vette or something along those lines. most everything down here was junk or way over priced. so i oped out of the sports cars for my dd and ended up getting this bad boy.

2007 Silverado 1500 5.3L 2wd 61k miles

- ill prob throw a level kit. catback and an air intake on the truck and call it a day.. maybe some long tubes and y pipe down the road.

Correction! Catback dual exhaust and cold air intake is on the way lol

How many miles were on the hyundai? Did you have a hand in the rear diff issue (wink wink)..just gauging how those cars are. Nice truck man...recently picked up an old siverado myself and enjoy the truck lifestyle again.

car had just over 33k on the clock. as far as the rear issue goes. i was little hard on the car on the streets but nothing that it shouldnt of been able to handle. i didnt do burnouts or drifting. just the now and again romp on it.

hyundai dealer said "not going to be covered since your tires are like slicks and at the wear bars" and went on to say "the rear is around $1800 to fix and hyundai has me on a tight leash." (how is it my fault there was an issue with my car and your going to deny me coverage because of tire wear!?) yes the car is modded and yes i needed 2 new rear tires but **** tires are $500+ for a pair plus mount and balance. and i didnt feel like forking that out just yet.

i put the rear set of tires on last summer and since than ive put a good 15-20 k miles on the car. tire was a soft compound tire so im surprised it lasted that long. tried to explain that to dealer but you could tell he didnt want to hear it.

i told myself that was the last time i would deal with hyundai. every time i brought the car in for service i would always get treated like a pos. even when i called hyundai directly to voice my opinion they just pretty much told me nothing they can do.

car has had a black cloud over it since the first week i bought it. im surprised i kept it for as long as i did. but this rear issue was the last straw.

they are suppose to call me wednesday to let me know what hyundai says. i cant wait to hear that excuse again and i cant wait to hear what he has to say when i tell him what i think. hyundai lost me as a future customer thats for sure. and ill be sure to tell anyone that asks me my opinion how i really feel about them and the cars.

I could be wrong, but dont you have to get the 2500 or Denali to get the 6.0L?

Why didn't you just rotate your tires and go to a different dealer?

Could be in the dealer database as denied claim do to so and so. (aftermarket addon's or cust fault)...the dealers upload info to the database for this reason. My father in law sees a lot of claims when gm voids the warranty over aftermarket add ons ...modded vette, entire warranty void...even the radio..crazy.

It's a shame cause I like the Genesis's. Did you look to see if there was maybe a recall on the assembly? And between all the subframes they've been replacing on half of their new fleet, I'm not suprised they shot you down, I'm sure the dealerships are always busy replacing one thing after another.

i remember working for a stealership. most of the techs and sales people are trained to find ANY reason not to honor a warranty...especially the techs since the warranty jobs pay like ****

I guess I'm an exception. Ditschman Ford has done me great. The front diff in the Edge got a leak- they replaced the whole diff. The rear wheel bearing made a little noise so they replaced the entire trailing arm assembly.

EASILY covered the cost of the warranty.

What if you swap the tires, and powerbrake for 20 minutes straight so they are worn the same. Or jack up the back slightly off the ground and put a brick on the gas like in Ferris Bueller.

car had a few issues that i really wasnt too happy with plus its been 2-3 years of horrible customer service with hyundai that pushed me to get rid of the car.

since day 1 it was nothing but a nightmare dealing with this car and hyundai on repairs (even before i touched the car and added parts) plus now i have to work out of my truck some days so its a little tough to have a ton of tools stashed into the small trunk of a sports car. Truck is just all around more practical for what im doing down here anyway.
