SKY redline gear swap, worth it? possible?
ok, I have my '08 SKY redline, stock it has 3.73 gears in the independent suspension rear diff.
The non turbo SKYs came with 3.91 gears out back.
Would it be worth it to swap gears to get the 3.91s or even swap the whole independent carrier?

I would say no Paul....how much did you get to drive it after the stage II upgrade?
I have been in Little G's and first gear is already pretty much useless, I think adding a couple points of gear would only make it worse.

As much as I would like to say go for it (we all know how I feel about taller gears), I must agree with Justin here. First gear would be basically nonexistent. Now if you put in a new transmission to boot then yeehaw put 4.10s in the thing!

The real question is... why get a Sky in automatic? This should be outlawed.

2009 Sky Redline Trans Gear Ratios
# Trans Description Cont.: Manual
# First Gear Ratio (:1): 3.75
# Second Gear Ratio (:1): 2.26
# Third Gear Ratio (:1): 1.51
# Fourth Gear Ratio (:1): 1.00
# Fifth Gear Ratio (:1): 0.73
# Reverse Ratio (:1): 3.67
# Trans Description Cont.: Automatic
# First Gear Ratio (:1): 3.42
# Second Gear Ratio (:1): 2.21
# Third Gear Ratio (:1): 1.60
# Fourth Gear Ratio (:1): 1.00
# Fifth Gear Ratio (:1): 0.75
# Reverse Ratio (:1): 3.02
After doing the math, the gear swap would make sense, unless you care about mileage on long highway trips. First would still be shorter overall with the auto and 3.91s than with the manual and 3.73s.

I will gladly trade you Paul, I would like to get some better gas mileage out of my car! I think there are some gear ratio's available for our rears as one of the Caddy's got several different gear ratios. And from what I understand all of the Mallet cars (or the companies that do the conversions) they put Caddy rears upgraded in the cars for the high torque converions, i.e. V8's

yea id def like to do a gear swap, considering there isnt too much else i can do to my car before i go swapping turbos. i wanna stay mainly "stock" as in warranty terms.
id probably just buy a new rear unit assembly and keep my stock one as a spare
