Trans mount

Just got home from the shop, and a bent axle shaft replaced but we noticed the transmition mount was busted. Now whats the best replacement for this. The advanced-auto-pep etc have the oil filled mounts but should o go with a poly mount instead like this

If you want to go with a poly mount let me know and I can get you a Spohn one. I'd suggest it over a stock rubber type personally.

i recommend the poly mounts too. in my 383 iroc, id tear up a stock rubber one with one hard shift, the poly one held together all through up until i sold the car and then some, actually i bought the drivetrain back and got the mount back, still great shape, just waiting for a car to use it in.

OEM mount here 3 out of the 4 transmission builders I talked to preferred the use of them unless it was on a track only car..

ok so i got my order from Hardcorez28 yesterday and got the poly mount on about 10 min ago and took it for a test drive. Some good things some bad things came out of it. It took about 30 min once i got the car and trans jacked up. After the test drive i noticed there is much more vibration from the trans transfered to the cabin. Going through the gears i can really feel it. The biggest positive is i was having a problem where my header y-pipe was rubbing ever so slightly on my k member (prob cause the trans mount was nonexistant) but now there is no little metal to metal rubbing noise. so im happy about that. Im gona give it a few days and see if i can get used to the new feel of the car. feels very very ridgid

I went through 4 rubber mounts on my old Z before I got the poly one. I worked at a parts store at the time so i kept them in stock and they were lifetime guarantee so id replace them on my lunch break I got tired of breaking them up. I will usually never run anything but poly trans mounts.

I put on a prothane poly mount about 2 months ago. Alot more noise from the drivetrain, and feels like stiffer shifts (a4 here). Some of the noise has gone away, but there is still alot there.

I also heard that putting on a poly tranny mount with stock rubber motor mounts is bad for the transmission. I believe it considering the shifts feel firmer, so more stress is being applied to the tranny. Im going to LTs and poly motor mounts this weekend, I'll throw in an update on the new mount feel when its done.

how hard is it to upgrade the motor mounts? and after a few hundred mile my trans mount has felt much better. It was so stiff at first. It felt like i ras riding on four flat tires if i launched the car. Now its smooth and i have zero dash rattle between the poly mount and the 3pt SFC's.

you gotta lift the front of the motor....its not to bad...

Using polymounts on an Automatic transmission with stock rubber engine mounts up front will crack the extension housing on the tranny along with putting aditional stress on different parts that connect to the Torque converter ..
Adding poly motor mounts up front only buy a little more insurance for preventing that..
Any automatic making decent power that goes to the track often needs a tunnel brace mounted torque arm to take aditional stress off of the transmission..

my car will most likely never see the track, so other than some lauches on the street i really baby the car. Should i go back to the stock mounts. The car feels great

If you don't beat on the car all that much you're fine with a poly mount...especially in a 6cyl.

As for doing the motor mounts....easy job. Put the car on ramps, remove the motor mount through bolts (2 of them), use a cherry picker to raise the engine off the mounts 2 or 3 inches, remove old mounts and replace with new ones. Drop engine back in place and reinstall bolts. Afternoon job.

I have found that it takes about 500 miles to "break" it in and then vibration is much less.
