i currently run MT sportsman 26x7.50 tires on the front of my camaro which is used mainly for racing. i have to pull the tires off this winter to do screw in valve stems. my question is is there a benefit to buy the 28's they make or not? i know its more rotational weight but didnt know if there were any more benefits???

tire height is more for roll out when bracket racing. front tires don't really do much either way for et as far as height goes.
i woudl suggest getting some real skinnies though. dropping some weight is always a good plan, unsprung from the front of the car is super nice, and the narrower tread would create less rolling resistance down track :)

it definately hurt. that is all mass that isn't doing you any good. i woudl bet that each front wheel+tire weighs over 65lbs, now look at a pair of draglites with bias ply skinnies, around 15lbs each.
unsprung weight like a wheel also isn't doin any work to help the car hook. it doesn't move, it jsut drags on the ground and fights the car.
the narrower tire means that less rubber is hitting the road, less tire on the ground means less rubber that is resisting acceleration.
i know when i switched from 17's to skinnies on my thirdgen i knocked a little over a tenth off. that was with M/T 8ply(my car was still full weight  ) fronts though, with a 2 or 4 ply front it would have been even lighter and i would have knocked off more.

I'm going to run the Phoenix F/X,(firestones) 7.75 - 15 ( PH-15), there 28.3" tall, 89"circ.,for next year, i like the tall tire gets the car off the ground and i can set my suspension set low, Tim is right get 15 x 3.5" rims with skinnys, what slicks do you have on rears, get the matching fronts in skinnys. JR1.
