I have flowtechs (I think thats the brand) shorty headers and they suck..primarily because I bought them used off ebay. I have a lot of leaks and I've tried so many things. My question is this..I wanna go with long tubes, now do I pay like $140 for Hedman or a little more for plain hookers..or do I save up the $4xx and go with the Hooker super comps? Only difference is brand and the super comps are the only company that makes 1 3/4 primary for 3rd gens. My car has the 350 and eventually (hopefully my dad will let me have it) I want to slap on some vortec heads, some wild cam, and a holley stealth ram on a 400sbc thats in my garage (had it posted in the classifieds a while back). What do you guys think?

did you make your own or have a shop make a Y-pipe to go into a factory location I-pipe, or did you go true duals? Looking at pics making a Y-pipe to go into my magnaflow I-pipe shouldn't be that diffifcult, a few 45's and straight pieces into a Y-collector.

a guy in norristown pa named alex's custom exhaust made my y pipe out of hte spintech oval tubing. he then merged it into my 4" mufflex cat back. i have not had a ground clearance issue at all yet.

i paid 400 for hte headers, another $500 i think for the cat back, and installation jsut for the y and exhaust/oval tubing was another 800. it was alot but im happy with it

I already have the magnaflow cat-back, I'll dish out for the headers and probably do the Y-pipe myself. Did you paint yours with some kind of hi-temp paint or anything? I used plastikote brand on the shorty headers I have now and it sucks, I've heard good things about VHT.

if the headers leak by the head, use a copper gasket on the head side and a fiber one against the header. i ran all season with no more leaks, you can at least do this for now so it doesnt leak and sound like ****. and if you are looking for used vortec heads i might be selling a set, they are one season old, on my brothers car.

Sounds good, I may try that. I already have the copper gaskets, guess I'll pick up some thick fiber ones to add. As for the vortec heads, are they stockers off a chevy? any work done to them?..etc
