Which transmission would be the most reliable? 700r4, th350, or th400? I have 4.56 gears outback and will be between 600-1000hp and will see some street miles, thanks in advance.

TH400.

The OD of the 700-R4 would be nice but (from what I've heard) they are difficult to build to those HP levels properly and the 1-2 shift is not very desirable for a track car.

The old TH400 is the way to go. You could find them in the old 427-454 solid lifter BBC and they were bullet proof then. There are a lot of kits that can really make these trans stand up to a lot of HP!

at the race track all the pro teams use a powerglide and they are hands down the best for any combo up to 850 HP in a stock case -- a stock case with an ultra bell and roller mods inside 1200 HP --- and an aftermarket case will all the beans 2500HP have seen top sporstman cars in the High 5s low 6s use a glide as well and some of the top alky dragsters have them as well -- jz

If some street means very little, a PG or TH400. If you need OD a 4L80E or TH400 & GV OD.

200-4R is a possibility as well, correct?

Yes. Well before a 700r4/4l60e. IMO

Yea, thats another way to go.

TH400 and 'glide are others, but its whatever fits your setup correctly. A glide is only a 2-speed so keep that in mind.

I would look into getting a 200-4r built up....they ride behind single digit turbo buicks all the time, so a light 3rd gen shouldn't be too much of an issue.

before I picked up my T56, I was gonna run a beefed up 200-4R. same gear ratio's in 1st-3rd as a TH350, and has a deeper overdrive than a 700-R4. plus the hydraulics in the trans itself are routed better.
