Being the retard that I am, I forgot to order a tranny cooler for the new converter. Since I am bringing it to be installed tmmr, I can't order one from Summit etc. so would one from pep boys, autozone etc suffice?

Yeh the Hayden heavy duty coolers are pretty good if you can afford it get one with an electric fan as long as it will fit in front of your A/c Condensor..

Well seeing as I do not have an AC condernsror, I could always upgrade to a cool fan cooled one down the road.

Yeh sorry Advance auto has the Hayden Coolers I don't know if Autozone does or not but that is the brand I would search for..
Since you don't have A/c get something that will fit up against your radiator in front of the high speed fan so that way it will pull more air through your tranny cooler
And don't forget to bypass the factory cooler just use the aftermarket one..

Would one trip, roughly an hr, without a tranny cooler kill my trans? It would justy be zooming down the parkway.

You'll be fine as long as you have the factory one hooked up. Just don't go beating on it to get it real hot.

So I still have yet to buy a cooler, and I think it boiled some fluid out onto my valvecovers... so I am going today to get one. Do I run it inline with the factory cooler or just delete the factory one?

I have a trans cooler in my garage. It's new, still in the packaging. If your interested I can go out there tonight and get some more info on it.

For the lowest temperature you should delete/Bypass the factory cooler..
Your engine depending on what temp thermostat you have is minimum of 30-40 degree's warmer than your transmission fluid so all you would be doing is raising the the transmission fluid temps compared to just using the aftermarket cooler..

On my 98 I have a dual core cooler behind the bumper with a fan on a switch and it ever goes over 220. This is hooked up to the factory rad but I have the fans set so the car never goes over 210. The most you will ever want your trans to see is 290 before the fluid starts to cook itself.

I plan on getting a simple single core one.

I didn't get out to the garage until late last night. But I did find it. It's a Perma-Cool part number 1305. the dimensions on it are 1-1/2'' x 7'' x 18''. It's just been sitting in the garage for a few years and I need to start getting rid of things. If your interested I can let it go for $50.

50 bucks? Geez, I can get a bigger one for less than that.

I paid almost $90 for it when I bought it and its still listed for 85. http://www.jegs.com/i/Perma-Cool/771/1305/10002/-1
It has been sitting for a few years, so I'm open to offers if you think 50 is too much.

Ok I spoke to soon then, does it come with all the needed hoses etc? And I can do 50 if it does.
