View Full Version : Best thing to use to remove sap?

Well I got this clear pine sap on my car. Now that it has dried its white and everyones asking where I got the scratches on my hood from lol. I need to get this crap off this weekend and invest in a cover...Whats the best thing to use...I dont think soap and waters going to cut it. I know a few things but im not sure they'll be safe on the paint.

I'd use bug and tar remover, followed by a clay bar, and then finish up with a good quality wax.

Hot/warm soapy water. soak a towel with it and let it sit on the sap. it will soften up and then you'll be able to wipe it off. You may have to re-soak the towel a few times.

denatured (rubbing) alcohol. my car was covered when i got it. it softens the sap up almost instantly, little rubbing and its gone.

+1...That's what I did too when I got sap on the Trans Am. 8-)

Yea been having some bad luck w/ this thing recently...It started again w/ our off roading trip on the way to atco last saturday after a fresh wash :rofl:Gotta admit smoking that GT from a light on 38 finished the day off nicely though :mrgreen:

Yeah, well, you know, I had to try out my offroading baja drinking, i mean driving skills...in a Uhh ...2002 Trans Am?, yeah that's it...:lol:

Def...taking on a GT would have made my day too man...:nod:

bug and tar remover from turtle wax does a nice job, and it leaves a smooth wax like finish

+2. I was gonna say the same thing! My driveway is under a pinetree so I'm always having to use hot soapy water on my car.:nod:
