There is no question that Fram filters do in fact filter oil and do their job. Plenty of their stuff is in use. But there are many filter brands that do a BETTER job.

I had a bad experience w/ one on my LS1...im sure I ran them on my dd in the past and never had a problem. I wouldnt reccomend them on a performance oriented car.

i've run into issues with them before. simple issues but still, not something i'd expect to see so often

But it all comes down to why buy fram when you can pick up a 4 dollar acdelco at any autozone or advanced...

Yeah, that's my point as well. I ran FRAM filters for a while, and when I switched to K&N I noticed my oil pressure fluctuating a lot less on the gauge. Not a big deal, but hey, enough for me to notice.

Another vote for K&N. I use them on my car and truck.

This has been discussed here a lot. Fram is probably the crappiest oil filter you can buy especially for what you pay. For almost the same money you can buy a wix or napa filter of much better quality.

delco doesnt make their own oil filters anymore. champ lab does. just because it says delco on it doesnt mean its the best for GM cars. it is NOT a good filter, and i would never use it on anything i own.

There is no such thing as "AC Delco" anymore. AC Delco is like Duralast, Craftsman, Kenmore, etc etc...its just a label.

Some lazy buttweezel sent his fat wife into Auto Bone yesterday, looking for a Quaker State earl filter. We don't carry Quaker State earl filters, so I told Queen Kong her lazy hubbski was SOL. So 3 chins Sally DEMANDS that I tell him so, and shoves her cell phone into my puss. The phone smelled like bacon, btw. Anywho, Mr Personality gets all huffy with me, and says "I JUST NEED AN EARL FILTER! I DON'T CARE WHAT BRAND!" So, I hang up on him, tell Ms Piggy she should also consider getting him some manners at the manners store, and git her a Fram earl filter so her fat azz can get back to terrorizing all you can eat buffets. Well, about an hour later I look out the door and think I see a low flying weather balloon, but it was just Fatty Patty rollin' back in. She then comes up to me and says "HE didn't want a Fram!" Wellllllllllllllll, I tell her HE shouldn't have said HE didn't care what brand then, and that I'm a 'lil sick of this drama. Why not cut to the chase next time and tell HIM to get HIS lazy azz off the couch and go pick up HIS own parts? So, I take back the Fram, and give her a top o' the line STP filter!
Moral of the story? Even IDIOTS don't approve of Fram earl filters!

Fram regular and STP are both equally worthless.
Fram Tough Guard is, I belive, made by someone different then the standard Fram.
I think im gunna wait for the Castrol EDGE deal to come back. With the Ecotec cartridge filter, it really doesnt matter.

fram makes tough guard. its just a different design, and the only fram worth using.

In 1989 when I did my first oil change on my new IROC, I used a standard FRAM and used nothing else since. Just turned 351,000 miles, original engine. If they were "crap", and "junk" my engine would have hand grenaded long ago.

Here is the bottom line. No one is going to argue that a standard Fram is the best. Its not. There are prolly better filters out there. Investigate and go get one.
My experience however spans 20 yrs - and shows with 351,000 miles of data that the filter is at least adequate and does the job it was designed to do.

yes but with 351k miles not being the norm for these types of vehicles tells me that youve maintained your car very well or very rarely get on it.
as for sweetbmx....no frams arent good for ls1's...perfect for lt1's

I think the point is that fram oil filters are pretty much the worst filter you can buy on the market, especially for the money. Yet they are advertised as being good. It has been proven that they use inferior components, compared to other filters on the market. You can get a much better wix/napa filter for damn near the same money.
The only thing Fram is good at is advertising. It's obvious where their priorties are.

this being said, why would anyone knowingly buy an inferior product, when better products are readily available for the same cost.
