Hello everyone, So on my way back from work... my car started to chirp.. at first it was very quite almost didn't hear it.. now you can hear it, it's got a lot louder. And it goes with the RPM's. it also has a weird skipping sound.. the car still runs fine.. But the sound is from the back of the engine bay, It sounds similar to this guy's lt1 car I found on youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Kut0ohMy8E

If anyone can help me I'd love to know what's up...

Is the car an auto?

The vid sounds like a spun bearing to me

Ac compressor on? Tensioner pulley? Undo the belt and start it up for a second to see if you don't hear it. If no then it's the alt, ps, ac, or tensioner

Yea, taking the belt off and then starting the car for a short time is your best first step.

If your car sound like the one in the video then I would say is sounds like a spun bearing.

Yup it's an automatic. just had the transmission done 3000 miles ago...

:| I don't know if it's a pulley or belt. the sound is coming from the BACK of the engine...

This is great advice. Do this first.

Pull the belt and run it. If it still makes the noise, I'd check for a cracked flexplate.

Or you could just take a mechanics stetoscope and pass it infront of each of the pulleys wuth the car running to see what one is making noise. What ever one sounds loud or squeaky when you pass it in front of it is the bad one....or if it squeaks as you pass it in front of all the belt is probably bad but to test that just spray some water on the inside while it running and it should shut up...that noise in the vid deff sounds like a spun bearing tho

I'd also say take the belt off and run it. Also, what does the oil pressure gauge do when in gear?

Try the belt first. I've had several engines start the chirping thing when the backside of the belt gets worn too smooth. I took the AC belt off the SS for over a year because the chirping was annoying and I could never remember to pick up a new one. If it really is the back of the engine then it will be tougher to diagnose.
