For those in the Northeast Bergen County, be on the lookout for scrap metal pickers.

I had several items STOLEN today. 4th gen doors, LS1 front suspension w/brakes, BBQ grills and a decent size pile of random scrap metal.

The suspension was recovered at "Bergen Recycling", a local scrap metal yard in Bergenfeild. Rest of the stuff had already been crushed. BTW they were not very helpful with the situation, but complied alot more when the police mentioned receiving stolen property...

I'm still out at least $400.

If I can ID the person/vehicle, I can then press charges which I want to do.

PLEASE HELP>>>>>>

If anyone sees a WHITE late 90's old u-haul style BOX TRUCK, please record the Plate number. Driver was african american, and truck had NJ plates(possibly NY) and 1st 3 digits are said to be "P12-"(scrap yard didnt record plates fully like police had asked them to MANY times before)

Vehicle was in the Closter, Demarest, Dumont, Creskill, Tenafly, Bergenfeild area... and possibly many more surrounding towns

I got robbed back in Feb. I had a used hot water heater and a car battery out by my stairs I was going to salvage and somone stole them in broad daylight, unbelievable that some people think your property is free for the taking. :-x

I've seen that truck come through our yard at work in Mahwah. We now lock our gates at all times....next time I see it I'll try to get the plate #.

Some people take scrapping way too seriously. I save the occasional copper since I get it at work all the time, but some people will go to the extreme for anything metal. Scrappers raided Denville when flood victims from the hurricane were drying their belongings out on their property.

Keep your eyes peeled. 99.9% chance they've been eying it up, driving through your block more than once. Im sure they didn't drive by your house once and decide to run up and steal your **** at first glance, ya know?

He did, the cops were at one of the local scrap yards with him looking for his stuff too.

IIRC, Paul said last night in the chat that he thinks it's the same guy that stopped at his house last week and asked him if he could take the stuff for scrap (and of course was told no).
