outside of trying to save up for an engagement ring i decieded to start another project. converting a 02 sebring silver ss camaro to a lt1 front. here is my progress. sorry to those who like the 98-02 fronts but imo the lt1 front looks mean as hell, to bad those years didnt get the ls1. Still looking for that lt1 SS hood and those wingswest ground effects, if anyone knows of someone selling these parts let them know, i'm looking.

i did the same thing to my 01 Z when i got hit last year.

everything bolts up just as it should, however you will NOT fit the stock air intake set up under the hood. i think if you run the SS hood with the a real functioning ram air set up youll clear, if not... ill come down and cut a hole in your hood, draw a rage comic, and turn you into an internet celeb.

I feel the taller spoiler gives the rear of the car a more aggressive look. I hope to find the 96-97' SS hood at the swap meet this weekend. I bought the one I have on my 97' Z there from fiber customs 3 years ago. then all i will need to find is the ground effects I'm looking for.

I got the hood home today, the last piece I needed to complete the front has been found. She needs to see a good painter along with all the other pieces I have for this project but other than that the hood is in great shape. Also again if anyone knows of some that has the ground effects kit I'm looking for please have them contact me. I knew someone in Brick had the kit but no luck reaching out to him. On a completely different side note, and this is a part taken off from my main project, I have the stock OEM cat. pipes with O2 sensors for sale on ls1tech anyone know of a good price I should ask for them?

If you've got the means to do a supercharged LS7 build, using Golen and SLP parts, then why on earth did you go for Autometer's cheaper line of gauges (just above autogage) in your other post? The sport comp II's would probably have been a better solution, and you would get a full sweep oil pressure gauge vs. the 90*.

I didn't purposely buy the cheapest of auto meters gauges. Im a bit on a time restriction with that car, a could have waited to the end of the month and had gotten the best, but i needed something there before it goes off to paint, i will upgrade in the future. Wasting alittle money now...sure but i feel its saving a future headache.

I finally had some time away from my pd today, so i decieded to clean up the two side rocker panels today. The one had a metal bracket on fused in rust. Tried to socket wrench it off, no luck. So out came the hack saw...that did the trick. Took the power washer to all the chipped paint, which seem to do the trick.

I agree, what a difference it makes with them off. that front plate needs to come off as well, and its getting tinted the following week on the side windows (driver / passenger). I need to remove the rear tint....advise needed on that one. It looks black from the outside but purplish/blue from the inside. can the tinted be removed w/o screwing up the window defoger?

google it, there is a way with certain cleaners and taping a plastic bag over it and leaving it in the sun...

Usually you can get it started with a razor in a bare spot and pull it off easily. I would let the tint shop do it personally, the glue is a bitch.

I used to work for a car dealership that made us pull the tint off each time a car came in, I forget the spray we uesd but we used black trash bags and heat guns to pull it off, It was a long and horrible process, Save yourself time and headache and let the tint shop do it.

As soon as i can sell some of the parts sitting in my garage ie. Lt1 ss air box, maf sensor, 2x 285/35/18 tires, stock valve covers, polished valve covers, stock fuel pump, stock springs.... so i can buy a set of tires for the Z06 wheels i have they will be for sale.

Passenger side did bleed a bit due to the lense being slightly cracked, driver side came out perfect, grabbed another marker light (not cracked) repeated for passenger side and it didn't bleed either. Good idea on the sanding, I'll have to get another set and give it a shot.

took down a extra fender I had up in the attic last night. removed molding, lettering, soap washed, and cleaned rubbing alcohol. going to start sanding with 800, work up to a wet 2000, rewash and apply primer.

You do NOT want a 2000 grit finish to apply primer to.

400-600 grit at most. You need some texture for the primer/paint to adhere.

1500-2000+ grit is basically for final wet sanding of the clear coat before polishing.

Finally got around to do some work on the car. I did the rear lowering springs, I have Bilstein front and rear shocks coming on tuesday so I will lower the front Wednesday.

Alright guys I decided to go with the toyo proxes 305/35/18 in the rear of this car. the overall height im being told is 26.3" which is only .2" more than the BFGoodrich f-force T/A kdw 2 im running on the Z (295/35/18). So what am I looking at for fitment issues. I dont think i need to roll any fenders here but I know the bump stops have to go, any inner fender (BMFH mod) convincing I need to do? The car is now lowered an 1"- 1.5" (BMR springs)

Eh, you'll probably catch in a couple spots. Really just have to drive it and see I guess because your rear may not be perfectly aligned in the wheel well or the whole axle could be to one side a little more. I would just hit the usually spots and take the bumpstops and some of that inner structure back a bit and make it smooth so you don't rip the tire apart if it ever hit. Towards the front of the car at the bottom of the opening it usually catches a small lip. I just hammer it back.

figured I'd post this, an Email with me speaking to chad about the engine build for this car

"Ok so we can set it up to work with a Centrifugal ATI Procharger.Here is the spec sheet for a 427ci LS7 Boost ready engine that will be a direct bolt in for your car, we can build this engine and test it on our dyno for $16,499. You would need to add the ATI Procharger in addition to this price and that should run you around $5,000 for the complete kit give or take.

I would have a reputable LSX builder do the motor, and have them dictate if you want/need a SR setup.

Gearing at this point is a moot point without knowing cam/engine/blower specs.

so with someones help on ls1tech, I had this image photoshopped to see what the car would after it had its body kit put on. couple more things to do to the photo, but it gives a pretty good on what the car will look when its done. I still need to fix the the rear fascia, and get the sail panel and roof done, as well as the wheels that will be on it, but all in all it looks pretty good.

We'll i finally started the work on the SS. I dropped the car off yesterday at ttp. The boys there will be fabricating a temporary cia for this car. Once that is complete i will be swapping the front clip. Anyone interested in a ls front clip (nose, fenders, ss hood, lights) shot me a pm. They will be up for sale in two weeks. Im still in need of one more spare/donut for this car so it can pushed around while its out of commission for about 2 years. Bolts right in, just have to paint it. If you going forced induction I would defiantly skip the 12 bolt.

Thanks man, i will give them a call in a few weeks when i pull the rear. Next question for you guys, while the rear is out I'm changing the fuel pump. Do i need to go with a double pump or will a single 255 pump work.....keeping in mind that i decided to go with a LQ9 iron block, AFR heads, and a ported stock intake. Unsure of what cam, but this motor will be running 15-20 lbs of boost.

Came across a odd locking lug nut on my driver side rear that i have never seen before. It appears to have 8 individual groves on the exterior of this lug nut. Anyone have a key that would remove it?

Update for everyone reading: sent two wheels to mark at markyouspotpowdercoating. Should have those in two weeks and i will post photos of them when i get them back. Finally found a engine block for this car....will be getting that in three weeks its a lq4 with front and rear covers thats its. $450 for it meeting the guy at the lionheads circle out near medferd nj. I had the stock air box removed off the car, and 90*bellow installed so the car is now officially able to be taken apart. Many photos to come, I'll keep everyone posted, much to take place in the next three weeks. Should have the entire front end off the car by then and the block at the machine for cleaning and prep.

So i decided to go with a 408 stroker kit on this build, I'm looking at options for heads and intake? Mike over at ttp says afr heads are not the way to go and suggested at looking at trick flow heads. Any opinions out there? Also what intake should i be looking into anyone running a fast 102? Or should i be looking at a stock intake. And lastly cam options? I like the torque that my lt1 has so i want something that will throw me back in the seat but i also want a ***** load power (700's rwhp) and still be able to get into the car and drive it to the food store. Keeping this also in mind the motor will be running boost.

got the fenders and headlights off the car. I'll be finishing it this weekend

I figured I would post some updates on my progress with the car. I have to block sand the sheet metal interior fender to get rid of some rust, then I'll spray with some silver primer. the front wheels are done and the fenders are now silver and no longer black. all I really have to do now is wire brush the mounting brackets for the fenders and some of the other various mounting brackets that hold this front end together, paint, and reassemble.

sat down with Mike and Matt at TTP yesterday after dropping of the 6.0 block. So the build will look something alittle like this 408 stoker kit, trickflow heads (specifics not determined) D-1 supercharger, 10:1 compression, cam specs, also not determined, Both Matt and Mike informed me "this car will make a easy 750 rwhp w/o sweating"

looking to remove the SS badges off the ls1 fenders to place them on the lt1. i figured heating the back side of the fender with a hair dryer would soften the double sided tape holding them on. what / how to i do i get them to stick on the lt1 fenders? my guess is the old double sided tape will be no good.

Go buy 3M double sided tape. You should clean off whatever is still stuck to the emblem and then apply the new tape. I believe I bought some good stuff from home Depot or Lowes that worked great.

Also, use the hair dryer to heat them up and use fishing line to get them off easily.

Well i used the fishing line to chisel off the SS badges after heating up the back side of the ls fenders worked perfectly took only 10 minutes per each fender and the badges came off intact.

Also got the ls nose completely off, just need to get a few more screws that are holding it on from the under side and that will be finished and time to start mounting the lt nose on.

when I did the LT conversion to my 02 I had to trim underside of hood cause the LT cars are different than the LS cars where the rubber threaded hood adjustment stud is mounted to the body, take notice the first time you lower hood when you start to align things, other than that its all bolt on.

I got the Ls bumper cover and bumper absorber off, all the brackets, lights, and everything else that goes along with Ls nose. I was able to mount the Lt bumper absorber. All I have left is to do is sand and paint, bolt on the Lt headlight assembly, connect all lights and start putting on the Lt nose.

Are you speaking about those hood bumps to the very front right and left corner of the engine bay? If so I have them being replaced with the Lt1 style, which sit a bit lower to give the hood more room to lower down.

finally got the headlight assembly on and all the the lights connected and working. now all that is left is to sand, spray after i tape off a few things. then i can finally get the body panels back on. this swap has been extremely easy, time consuming but easy.

The LT hood and LS hood I have are different I presume. The LT hood I have is flat vs the LS hood I have has curves behind the headlights up towards the cowl, just go easy on test fits. Also I had to trim my LT fenders by the radiator support just behind the first mounting area, it needed to be trimmed.

Trimmed? Do you have any photos of what you had to do? It appears to all swap over with no hassle providing all the brackets and misc. other parts are in place.

That is the way lighting is standard, fogs usually turn off with the high beams.

Hopefully it will be a "legal" HID replacement?

I ment i cant run the low and high beams together. When i switch the high beams on the lows shut off. The Lt car allows the high and lows to stay on together while the fog get turned off. As far as "legal" I'd pefer them to be legal

I have fixed all the fender alignment issues but one, that being the hood and making sure the lines for the hood are straight. I have to reroute the wiring harness that runs on top of the passenger side strut tower, and the air hose that runs on top of the drivers side strut tower and the hood will be latch completely down.

anyone have a good links to the wire mod? I checked on tech which the guy did it on a red trans am. it was helpful but i still run into the driver side that needs to be done as well. I'm thinking about just running two holes on either side of the strut tower and running the hose through there. if anyone has stickys on this please send them my way. thanks guys

Can the radiator be lowered at all? The radiator cap is sitting to high, i need about a 1/2" to clear. The hood closes but again the radiator cap is sitting a bit to high?

Yeah , I'm going to lower the latch I still have to pull the front corners of the fenders up and bolt the corners down. I just hope that fixes it. I'm guessing I can get a 1/4" down with the latch and a 1/4" up with the fender. That should solve the problem

I got the car back together, this hood is on its way out. I just put up a post about a ss hood I just found. If it's a genuine slp ss hood I'm most likely getting it. The fenders need to be resprayed and I have to get the newly powder coated front wheels back on. The fenders still have room to get moved up, and I still have room to lower the hood latch, which will help with correcting these lines but this hood is on its way out

I believe I found a hood for this car but got some more work on the car. All I have left to do is tighten up the bolts from the fenders to the front bumper cover and bolt in the fenders to the under brackets under the doors....just waiting on some lift time. Here the car as of today.

Now that I found the hood, I'm looking into kooks true duel exhaust off road system for the new motor. My question is does the Lq blocks have the same exhaust ports and bolt pattern as the Ls blocks?

So yesterday with it being nearly 60* outside I decided to do last remaining odds and ends I had to do to the car to finish this front end conversion. Then I took a look at the roof on the car. I have the bubbling roof issue like many others out there and Ive seen many writes up about this. seeing as though I have bubbling accruing on both sail panel and roof I guess my only option is to cut a roof from a early 4th gen (93-97) to be exact? Are there any companies out there that sell a complete roof , 6litereater seems to only sell just a sail panel?

I had the sail panel off of Kirk's old car! Its under a bunch of scrap now, I don't know if its worth salvaging. Rotors etc have been thrown on top of it. Don't have the hard top though. But yes, either 6le and hope it fits well or cut one off of an older donor car.

So I've decided to lower this car a little more. I'm going to pick up BMR's 1"lowering a-arms and I just picked up 3 ft of 1/2 heater hose to do the heater hose mode. Just have a couple of questions.

1. What, if any needed lubricant can I use to slide the heater hose onto the rear springs?
2. Even though doing this mod is fairly simple how does the heater hose lower the car? It appears in theory that it would raise the rear end.
3. If I choose down the road to remove the heater hose from the springs is just a simple cut and remove?

You can use silicone spray or I think guys split the hose down the center and install it with that split facing downward.

You are going to remove the factory spring isolators. They are probably 1 1/2-2" thick and sit between the top of the spring and body.

Shouldn't be an issue reverting back to stock. Hold onto the factory pieces.

hey guys after a solid year of not doing anything to my cars mainly because of having a newborn baby girl, I'm back. I ordered up a ford 9" rear from quick performance for now just the rear end. I have not ordered the center section as of yet. After reading some posts it looks like a yukon center with wavetrack 4:11 gears is whats next. I will also be pulling out the the gas tank,trans, and motor as well by the end of the month. painting the under side of car metallic silver. I also need to decide if I want to keep my 6.0 lq4 block or purchase a new lsx block seeing as though this build will have boost to it. I dont know if my goal is attainable though....that being a 700 rwhp street/strip car on pump gas.

Tru track in the center section, 31 spline axles, 3.73's, arp studs etc. Not exactly what you are wanting but figured I'd let you know. I'll be asking $2k for it with a stock aluminum drive shaft and the drag bar on it. Hope life is good as a dad!

Are you adverse to running methanol injection? I still think you won't have trouble hitting your goal with pump gas and the right combo (especially on the LS platform). LTb1ow is nearly at 700rwhp on a mustang dyno with a turbo LT1, pump gas with no meth at around 15-16lbs of boost.
