Dimebag was a HUGE influence on me. I used to be in a band, and we played a lot of Pantera songs, either just jamming in the garage or throwing a cover song or two into a show. He was an amazing guitarist and a general all-around badass.

I'm gonna play "Cemetary Gates" in mourning.

I dunno if they just added this recently, but the suspect is named in the article SM first posted.

Police spokeswoman Sherry Mercurio identified the gunman as Nathan Gale, 25, of the Marysville area northwest of Columbus. She said there was no information on a motive or if he had any connection to the band.

Though I'm not a huge Pantera fan (or Damageplan either) I was totally shocked when I heard the news on Q104.3 this morning on my drive to work. This is a sad day for metal fans around the world; we lost a helluva musician!

RIP Darrell Abbott, you will be missed.
