if the previous owner installed a throttlebody he may have bought the 98-99 version which has a different cam and would make the cable loose, i put the 2000+ tb on my 99 and the blade stayed open...

if the tb is the culprit i have a 2000-2002 piece that you can have if you have a 98-99 one

FWIW, to identify a tb(if not modded, just swapped) the throttle spring color on a 2000-2002 TB is blue, 98-99 is...i dunno...yellow i think

i noticed a huge improvement in throttle response when i had my TB ported... its cheap and the improvements are amazing

most of what hes feeling is probably torque managment and asr.... have bill take off the torque management huge difference

NP_00'T/A 12-21-2006 02:11 AM

3:73's and a tune by Bill will make it feel like a completely different car something he does to the shifting so the car downshifts when it is supposed to instead of lagging which is probably what your refering too. He explained to to me that normally the computer won't downshift to give you that power until you mash the petal down to 75% throtle or something but he chnages it so anything over 50% shoves it down into the powerband and you take off. Not to mention if ya get rid of torque mangement your going to be chirping 2nd pretty easy so give him a call !!!

thats a good point... what kind of gears does that bad boy have?

jimmyboy8301 12-21-2006 11:35 AM

my throttle response is excellent, but i have a little done. on my car it was never really that bad though.

Oh boy, I just went through inspection today so I'm good for 2 years. Then we ended up getting a bonus at work which I had no idea about! So now I have money to pay off the credit cards and enough left for some mods! And if I sell the 4Runner shortly I'll have even more! This could be a dangerous situation...

I would say mild tight converter & LS6 intake & maybe some suspension parts for starters.

Jeff should buy Jimmy's 2800 stall so that Jimmy can get a real one :)
