So do all LS1 cars have this slow throttle response?
This drive by wire throttle lag sucks. Now I think I know why people say the LT1 feels stronger down low, because it responds quicker! But my 2000 SS will break the tires loose a lot easier than my 96 SS did. So is there a cure for this lag other than mashing the pedal to the floor faster?

I just thought all the f-bodies were cables. I learned something.

His is a 3.8 though Phil, there were lots of differences between the cars.

nope, only the vettes from 97-02 were drive by wire. the GTOs may be by wire too, im not sure. LS2s are. but i do know camaros and bird LS1s were all cable driven. Vehicles with traction control are a little odd, The ASR option connects the gas pedal to a "motor" which then goes to the throttle blade. when asr is activated, the "motor" turns back and closes the throttle, in turn actually pushing the gas pedal back up.

I thought they all were too, until one of our members (can't remember who off the top of my head) bought a throttle body after confirming that it was a 99 like his car, and one was cable, and one wire.

yes, tuning should take care of it easily. I havent driven my SS in almost a year and a half so i cant remember what the throttle response was like. I'll be using HP tuners so if i notice any lag on mine, ill look into dealing with it.

as far as I know, none of the LS1 F bodies were TBW. all were cable operated.

PSBW? Yeah, it's a cable(which is actually wire) and the car has traction control. It's a sloppy cable for sure.

Tighten up the cable, get a tune and/or modify the T/B to put in a n idle adjusting screw. If you just bump the blade open a little bit it makes a big difference. Mine was always pretty instantaneous, do you have an A4? Could be torque managment or TCS
