I'll beat you with my lil v6 ;)

Jersyboyy 11-21-2008 02:48 PM

NO WONDER WHY THE 357 WAS ON 6!! DUH How did I not know this from the beginning!? cyl 3 and 5 have huge chuncks of the piston missing from it!! no wonder why cyl 5's plug had no gap. As for cyl 2 it looks good as far as piston goes, that one still wasnt one getting spark tho.
so cyl 2 and 3 had no spark and 3 and 5 have broken pistons!!

All in all 186 hp on 5 cyl is NOT that bad AT ALL ;) Lets see what she does on all 8 with new forged pistons and dare I say it...JUICE?

I got round two of shots!

Starting with 150 might try a 200 but not pushing past that.
think thats too much? check this out http://www.chevyhiperformance.com/te..._up/index.html

At that range you need to make sure you have a good understanding of N2O and how you need to set up your car. Make sure you can feed your N2O solenoid properly if you use the existing fuel system and make sure you never run lean- a fuel pressure safety switch is a must. A WOT switch and arming switch are mandatory and a window switch is a good idea. Basically you never want to go lean/short on fuel and never want to spray when you don't want to. If you half ass it or hack it together you will get a nice backfire. If you do and get a picture post it up, because I love seeing them.

+1 jerseyboy, youre still quite the noob when it comes to engines, let alone nitrous lol. in all seriousness, do the research on it. your build could go KABOOM in one run if youre not educated on this. N2O is no joke. you will want a few safety items like billy stated. and theres much to learn my friend

and if you knew what a 100 shot felt like, youd change your mind about starting with a 150 shot. anything above that is violent and youll be sure to go into the wall

sweetbmxrider 11-21-2008 05:05 PM

what?

Jersyboyy 11-21-2008 05:12 PM

Granted I dont know much about nitrous im not wayfast either im going to research every nook and cranny before I install any kit.

As far as motors go my knowledge on sbc 350s is growing more and more each day.

When I did my top end I researched alot and in the end had no real hands on help building it but I got it running.

Now as for diagnosing why it wasnt running on all 8 EVERY SINGE PERSON said ignition to me.
I said cam or valves. Turned out it was broken pistons and slightly bent valves.

Oh and I BET the pistons smacked the valves when I initially put the cam gear on wrong and tried starting the motor, and even then I had a member come and help me all day try to figure why it would start...gave him a set of wheels to! messed with timing the whole time...on MY hunch I tore it all apart and found and fixed the cam gear location. & he was a ex dealership mechanic and I even mentioned that to him while he was here.

I figure if im building a 383 or even just rebuilding my 357 with forged internals and low compression with a cold plug im a prime canadate for some juice. Plent of guys run 100 shots on stock bottem ends why would a 150 shot be a push for a forged bottem end?

im not saying itd be tough on the bottom end. im saying youve never ran a car with nitrous, and you will want to start low on the hp jetting and work your way up my friend. and who was the dimwit who u gave the wheels to? was that the former name jewboyx32? aND after that experience, now you know why that member was an EX dealership mechanic lol

A forged bottom end will give you wiggle room if you screw up your AF mixture with nitrous. You had better get squared away with timing and ignition stuff if you plan on spraying anything at all.

What I said above are the basics. You can have a $10,000 titanium bottom end and still burn up your motor and damage parts with a backfire.

You should just swap in an LS1, cause then you would have a nasty car.

Did shownomercy say to get a ls1 im sure you meant LT1 right?

I like my olds school motors thank you very much. If anything a dart or aftermarket aluminum small block would be the route to go for me but that all depends on funds.

Plus theirs a alot of lsx swapped 6x 7x 8x american cars and even imports its just as bad as a small block in everything was in the 90's and earlier.
