don't ya jsut hate when that happens? lol
which pipes did you get jeff? slp's?

JL8Jeff 12-03-2005 04:22 PM

Nope, Pacesetter longtubes. The price was too good to pass up and since I just passed inspection I figured this was the best time to install headers. I'm glad I waited for the weather to get real cold too!

Brando56894 12-03-2005 05:49 PM

looks nice bro, im gonna get headers soon or later...

NJSPEEDER 12-03-2005 05:51 PM

sweet. while you are at it !cat woudl be a good mod. jsut drop a bullet muffler in there so it ain't too loud.

JL8Jeff 12-03-2005 09:09 PM

Jan 1st, I don't even have a y-pipe for it yet! I just bought the headers while they were still at a great price. I still need to remove the rest of the cat y-pipe before I can install the headers. But the old stuff is off and out of the way. Anybody have thoughts on the best gaskets to use? I forget which brand I used on the 68 but they held up good. I'll eventually go with dual cats on the y-pipe but I'll just run an off-road y-pipe to get it back on the road. Man, it's so much fun working on a car this time of the year!:cold:

That's the best thing from last night and today, no smashed knuckles, no lost skin and no lost blood! I almost had the ratchet fall on my head a couple of times but I was able to react fast enough to avoid it. I will say that the electric impact gun is a big bonus to have. It's a little too big and I had to jack the car higher a few times but for some of those rusted and stubborn bolts/nuts it's a knuckle saver.

foff667 12-03-2005 09:20 PM

well the last header swap that i did(my 98Z) i started on the last day of december & completed Jan 1 hehe and I dont have a cozy garage to work in so I know how it is.

JL8Jeff 12-03-2005 09:44 PM

I'll have to wait until there's foursome ready to tee off on the 11th hole across the street so I can fire it up with open headers!

Cats and no muffler is the way to go. eaisly the best sounding and doesnt hinder peformance too much.

12secondv6 12-04-2005 08:52 AM

Cool!

JL8Jeff 12-04-2005 11:06 AM

D@m, I just tweaked my back shoveling snow so I won't be doing any more work on the header install today.

PA SS 12-04-2005 11:17 AM

Headers were one of the better mods I did to the SS :)
