some small appearance mods
I filled in the holes from the license plate bracket, painted it gloss black, then painted the outline of the bowtie grey. I also painted the mesh for the scoop on the hood gloss black. The mesh is suppose to screw into the fiberglass behind the initial opening but since I cut that fiberglass out to make the hood functional I had to come up with another way. I was able to rig up metal brackets that catch the lip and as I tightened down the screws it pulled the bracket closer and basically pinched the outer opening, holding it in place. I think I like the scoop without the mesh though, so we'll see if it stays or not. What do you guys think?

I like the new more subtle bow tie that matches the wheels, but the verdict isn't in yet on the lights, I like them dark. You going to smoke them or something else instead of the blackouts?
|
I like the screens painted black....the whole front end looks cleaner now.
Tails are in great shape, I think a few light coats of nightshades are in order :) - Justin |
Thanks. I'm thinking of either making the amber red, using a light coat of niteshades for a smoked look, or just leaving them.

Nicest IROC I've ever seen.
Not kidding, and I've seen a lot of them. Very nice car, Ted. |

Well, if you smoke them lightly after painting the amber red, that should mask any slight difference in the reds.
Sounds like a good plan to me. :) - Justin |
the reds willl be slightly different
http://inlinethumb48.webshots.com/25...600x600Q85.jpg the pair i smoked, i went dark and you cant tell the difference between the amber and red unless there lit up the most recent pic i have, http://inlinethumb41.webshots.com/37...600x600Q85.jpg |
wow Ted that thing looks great!
|
i say make the ambers red, then smoke it...just not real dark. just enough to give it that darker tint
|
Thanks Jon! and everyone else for their input. I want them similar to this, probably one coat lighter, but I'm gonna clear them after so they are shiny and flat:

Ted, that looks awesome!! If it were my car, I'd paint the ambers red first, and then mix up some clear with just a few drops of black paint in it to give it a light smoke look. I think that would look hot!
