First time in Camaro

I decided to take the Camaro to the track last night...I got there ~ 8 pm and it was packed so I only got 3 runs in. Here's the lowdown.

The track was pretty slippery, as even some slicks/DR guys were spinning somewhat but my spins were horrendous. (I was on 245 continental's) at 34 psi for first 2 runs, then 25 psi for 3rd)

Et MPH 60' 330' 1/8 1/8 mph 1000'

15.265 96.02 2.473 6.795 10.123 75.75 12.913 15.188 93.52 2.383 6.546 9.86 73.6 12.76 15.199 93.08 2.305 6.496 9.83 73.04 12.76
First run I just punched it off the start and didn't back off, trial run. As you can hear in the videos, I bounced off the limiter in 1st and 2nd for a while, I was spinning so bad the trans didn't want to upshift.

Second run I took it easier off the start, but again ran into spinning issues the rest of the track once I reached 3500 rpm in 1st. I backed off to let the trans upshift, but still hit the limiter in gears due to the insane spinning.

Third run I got a clean start, if a bit slow, then again ran into spinning issues the rest of the track like before. I backed off completely to let it upshift, and didn't help, as I went slower and still spun at 80 mph like the prior 2 runs.

I drove around the waterbox all 3 times, no burnouts, and smelled burnt rubber all the way down the track.

Both at the track and at the gas station on my way home, people asked what I had done to it that I was spinning at 3/4 track after getting completely off of the throttle and then getting back in it. They thought I had 500 rwhp

 my broken foxbody is faster

Anti_Rice_Guy 08-23-2008 07:21 PM

You don't spin past 80 mph  I'm the one with the 500 rwhp car :moon:

GP99GT 08-23-2008 07:24 PM

there had to have been something on the track to spin at 80 in a stock lt1...

Anti_Rice_Guy 08-23-2008 07:45 PM

I believe there was dew....I thought it was ridiculous as well...I expected to spin to maybe 30, 50 absolute max...

Njgunslinger 08-24-2008 01:06 PM

Blame it on the DEW~!!!

Anti_Rice_Guy 08-24-2008 01:08 PM

Either that or it's a factory wringer, in which case you better watch out Sam!

I think its driver mod issues.

JerzLT1 08-25-2008 11:04 AM

im thinking the same, my A4 96 Z28 went 13.9 @ 100mph bone stock

Anti_Rice_Guy 08-25-2008 05:45 PM

I know I suck at the driving mod, but how is it my fault that when I back off the throttle completely at ~ 60 mph, then get back on it that I spin again? The car isn't that powerful

sweetbmxrider 08-25-2008 06:16 PM

well how are your tires? tread wise

Anti_Rice_Guy 08-25-2008 06:48 PM
