HOLY CRAP FULL DEATH MAGNETIC ALBUM

The new metallica album leaked hit up a shareware program for the full thing. Someone illegally sold it early and france a few days ago.

SteveR 09-09-2008 10:49 PM

When is it supposed to come out?

enRo 09-09-2008 10:55 PM

Welcome to 4 days ago  (as in, the leakage of the album, it hits stores on this friday)

1972LT1 09-09-2008 10:57 PM

I've heard "The New Song", "Cyannide" and "The Day That Never Comes". The Day that never comes sounds like The Unforgiven 3, and the other two made me want to crawl into a ditch, and curl up and die. Jesus F'n Christ, the last Megadeth album was 5 times harder and only involved 1 original member. "F" Metallica! They sold out, and no matter how much they try, they will never be able to make another album like Master of Puppets or Ride the Lightening.

I agree

Megadeth trumphs metallica BUT this album is pretty damn good in my eyes. Cyanide is a very kick ass song and so is Judas Kiss. I can tell each song sorta floats from having routes in each album. Some sound more like load some like black album. personally I think Cyanide and Judas Kiss sound like kill em all/ ride the lightning.

Im guessing you havent listened to the 10 minute instrumental. Youtube it, "Suicide & Redemption". Then you can come on here again and weep weep weep about how new music doesn't sound like its 20 years old anymore, because "thrash" is dead. Ill come on here too and complain how the red hot chili peppers sounds like **** compared to their old stuff too... I think what you need to do is get youself out of the 80's cuz they ended 18 years ago

Chilli Peppers have always sucked dude so your point is moot. I love all forms of metal.Old school, power metal,prog/power,speed/thrash,grindcore,black metal, symphonic, atmospheric, hair metal, death metal and hardcore. For you to say thrash is dead is ignorant. I guess you haven't heard the latest from Testament,Exodus,Overkill,Warbringer or Municipal Waste. When bands like Trivium and Killswitch Engage do covers of your songs that sound more like your ***** than you've sounded like in 15 years, that just proves my point. Megadeth didn't sell out. Neither did Judas Priest,Iron Maiden, Slayer,Exodus,Testament,Overkill,Anthrax,Danzig,Ve nom,Dimmu Borgir,Immortal,Type O Negative,Ozzy, Dio,Queensryche,Motorhead,Kreator,Sodom, Cannibal Corpse, Six Feet Under, or Sepultura.

Heard "S&R" and am not impressed. It lacks the creativity and flow of tracks on Ride and Master. It's like the difference between seeing a movie and someone telling you about it.

Oh come on, he's a shriveled old waste of his former self

And newer Slayer has nothing on their older stuff either

firehawk1120 09-10-2008 01:44 AM

good I'm glad it got leaked, they are a bunch of dicks when it comes to their stuff and crying about illegal downloading and not getting money.

GP99GT 09-10-2008 05:38 AM

Ozzy (and his whore wife) sold out years ago. Tony Iommi never sold out.

Unforgive 3, lol. Unforgiven2 should be the greatest embarrasment in their history. Metallica sold out huge when they hired bob rock.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bob_Roc...phy_-_Producer

What was his claim to fame before metallica, Kingdom Come? Really? The king of all Zep ripoffs? Followed closely by The Cult.

I'm going to see them as I've heard some live stuff since the new bass player came on, and it sounds good, that and I've never wanted to see them since the black record came out. Took me a long time to get over commerncially viable metallica.

Bob Rock is a pretty good producer, but Metallica is absolutely impossible to work with. I've heard from friends that worked in the studio with them and I've seen a lot of video of them in the studio and I can fully understand why Bob Rock dislikes them so much. I think they have great song writing ability, and they are great musicians, but they are so far out of touch with reality it's not funny. Has anyone ever watched the whole 'Making A Monster' video about them in the studio for St. Anger? That's the kind of money wasting and ridiculousness that I'm talking about. I've been a fan of theirs since before And Justice, but I really cant listen to much of anything after that album. Black album had some good songs, but you could hear a dramatic change in the songs even at that point, and I never even bought Load and ReLoad. I think they really ran out of ideas after that recording session (Load and ReLoad were recorded at the same time in '93 and were supposed to be released as a double CD). Since then, the only new studio material recorded was St. Anger, and we know how that turned out (even though I do like the writing on some of the songs). I'm curious to hear how the new CD sounds, I guess I'll hit up youtube and take a listen. They have certainly changed their sound over time, mostly to stay current and to maintain the 'A List' status, as a lot of musicians do (Madonna is a good example). Unfortunately, that alienates the true fans that want them to stay the same. However, their ability to do so is far superior to other musicians, just listen to Lars' drumming and look at how he changed his kit over time.

HardcoreZ28 09-10-2008 09:20 AM

Yes the sound has changed dramatically over time. Is that a bad thing? Not necessarily...everything evolves. I'm not a huge fan of the last 3 albums by any means but everything and everyone changes....that's life. Hopefully this one is the best album in over a decade like they are claiming. Will it be another MOP or Ride the Lightening? Absolutely not. But I challenge anyone to look at it this way...if you heard one of the new songs on the radio and had no idea who it was, would you say to yourself "Hey I like this song....I wonder who it is?" I bet the answer would be yes.

And on a sidenote I saw this on a website this morning and found it to be hilarious!

Terrorists Hate 'Tallica
Did you hear that Metallica's music was being played to torture prisoners at Guantanamo Bay? Well, the band’s singer, James Hetfield, also heard that and told German television network 3SAT his thoughts on the matter.

The rocker explained that part of him is proud they chose the group’s music, noting how “Enter Sandman” was used to interrogate the man known as the 20th hijacker on September 11th and that the song brought the terrorist to tears “because he thought he was hearing the sound of Satan.”

However, Hetfield also said that part of him is bummed since he doesn’t want Metallica attached to some political statement, since they strive to be as apolitical as possible because he feels politics separates people and he wants to bring folks together.

I was merely using RHCP as an example.

A producer has a huge influence on the band's writing material. In a little segment I watched (dunno if it was from the Some Kind of Monster DVD or not), but Lars and Kirk were arguing because Kirk wanted to include solos and Lars sided with Bob Rock saying that "solo's are a thing of the past". That's the kind of influence a producer can have. So technically its not all Metallica's fault, they just failed to can Bob Rock earlier than they should have.

This new album is gonna get as close to old material as they can get. Its not gonna be the next MOP or RTL, but it sure as hell better than their mid 90's - St Anger material. And I'd say a good portion of Old Metallica fans that refuse to like their new material are still swinging by Dave Mustaine's ballbag, and I'll stand on that statement 100% .

NastyEllEssWon 09-10-2008 02:53 PM

new slayer has nothing to do with old slayer but its still decent.
slayer didnt go out and make the worst album ever with trash cans
for drums. i refuse to listen to any metallica, any longer. i cant
even listen to the old stuff anymore because then it just makes me
think how crappy they are now.

they have michael jordan syndrome. dont know when their prime has
passed and think that they are still relevant to the 'scene'

if you want to listen to a real album listen to the latest TESTAMENT.
amazing stuff.

i have absolutely nothing worthwhile to add to this thread

HardcoreZ28 09-10-2008 04:03 PM

Have we forgotten all about Garage Inc just cause it was covers? I think it was an awesome album. What about S&M...same songs but many sounded better with the symphony.

I agree, I was only commenting on song writing before, but I like both of those albums. Garage Days Revisited from '87 was awesome too. That was the first Metallica album I ever heard.

GP99GT 09-10-2008 04:27 PM

garage inc was alright, i was just going with albums of original material. S&M was pretty damn good too

That's ok. I learned how to play the entire discography of Slayer on the guitar by memorizing five simple riffs
