I love New Jersey Manufacturers Insurance Company

Best Damn Insurance Company out there. Get home from work and find a DIVIDEND check in the mail to the tune of 10% of the policy.....pretty sweet. If you don't have NJM, you owe it to yourself to look into it.

i could get it, next year, my parents have it, so does my job but my driving record isnt good enough yet :( right now i have liberty mutual, very happy with them so far.

Tru2Chevy 11-18-2008 05:40 PM

Yea, NJMs dividend checks are always popular, and 10% means they had a pretty good year.

I think Janice was saying this years payouts totaled like $14.2 mill or something like that last time I talked to her. :)

And when you need them, they step right up and deliver without trying to wiggle away. That's even more important.

EchoMirage 11-18-2008 05:51 PM

sweetbmxrider 11-18-2008 05:57 PM

Are there any limitations on your coverage? Mileage per year, etc? Do you have agreed upon value or simply full coverage based on KBB or something like that?

I could do something like that because I drive the car very little, but I don't think they would go for the "participation in a timed event" = autox. Nor would they dig the roll bar/race seat/racing belt......I think I remember running into that problem with my 70 Nova, as soon as I told the truth that it would go to the drag strip occasionally, the kindly told me to go elsewhere.

BigAls87Z28 11-18-2008 06:14 PM

Ehh...10 pts prevents me from having that.

The Fixer 11-18-2008 06:33 PM

NJM FTW!! I've had them since I started driving; I was on my parents policy first, and once my record cleaned up I got my own policy when I was 21. I've had 'em for 14 years now, they've NEVER given me a problem with a claim, and the rates have been great. My wife has an '03 Liberty, and I have an '01 Cherokee for daily drivers, and we pay $1800 (before dividend payouts!!) a year for full coverage combined on both vehicles. If you figure the dividend in, we pay @ $1400/year for both trucks.

And I have the Monte insured through Hagerty. Cost me $360/year for a stated value policy of $13K.

USAA here. When i first got a quote for my denali, 240. i asked them if it was for a month and they said, no 6 months.

NJ346 11-18-2008 07:47 PM

haha that'd be pretty sweet if I get one in the mail. I just maid a claim last week for my camaro hitting a deer. What was the date on the check? I wonder if it got processed before my claim...that'd be sweet :D lol

Stroked355Z28 11-18-2008 08:03 PM

I have Progressive and they are pretty good.

foff667 11-18-2008 08:07 PM

I'm paying about $1000 less now per year with allstate than with NJM-R(which doesn't offer the dividend checks BTW) with the same coverage so I'm just fine at the moment ;)

NJM-ReInsurance is for those with blemishes in their driving past, so I don't doubt those rates aren't all that sweet. If Allstate is taking good care of you, that's all that really matters.

Yeah but few don't have some sort of blemish on their record making it harder to get their non re insurance, I had a clean driving record for probably 3-4 years before changing to NJM, went 2 years with them without a blemish and was still on re then changed to allstate and saved a grand total on the 3 vehicles we have insured.

You'd think if you NEVER have a blemish they sure as hell better be giving you some pretty darn good rates ;)

How much do you pay a year with them if you don't mind my asking & for what vehicles?

And the people are nice. When I had my accident and my Alero got totaled, the woman who was in charge on my case called a few days later. First thing out of her mouth "Are you feeling ok?". That was the last thing I expected to hear. They also had no problem with picking my car up from the shop it was towed to after the accident to a shop of my choice.

this happens with mutual insurance companies... policyowner = shareholder

Correct. The MedMal company I used to work for was a mutual (actually a reciprocal). Profits were supposed to go back to policyholders. The old CEO had a saying "if we don't spend it we have to give it back". I suppose that is why they are out of business and NJM is not. LOL

1_Hot_SOM_WS6 11-18-2008 09:39 PM

NJM FTW!!! :) I work in the personal lines auto there.Awesome company to work for, they really take care of us! I also have them for auto insurance, you get 2 dividends, one at renewal and the special div check in Nov (as long as board approves). We do have stong under writting guidelines but thats one reason why the company is the way it is. Awesome :)
