yeah when running a decent amount of power you really need a better torque arm set up. It will help get the power down smoother as well

belowfire 07-01-2012 07:58 PM

Yea i know gotta buy one now. Any have a torque for a th350 trans that doesnt bolt to the tail shaft

That would be a crossmember mounted torque arm...

townsend 07-01-2012 10:05 PM

V 07-02-2012 12:46 AM

Every issue can be addressed and resolved. but i'd trade one of my 4th gens for the right 3rd gen(mainly an 88/89 white t-top GTA w/digital dash)

greenformula92 07-02-2012 07:29 AM

wait, what? what did you do? I used one of those years ago in my 82 TA and I had zero issues like that. I don't know if this is a bad luck issue. I forget now, does the bracket bolt to the trans using the 4 tail shaft bolts? Did you use long enough bolts? Did you destroy the TH350 main case?

belowfire 07-02-2012 04:00 PM

Bolted to 3 of the tailshaft bolts n ripped the 2 bottom tail shaft bolts out the third ones fine the vracket actual broke where the third bolt goes into trans is saveable

WildBillyT 07-02-2012 04:27 PM

You can put helicoils in the trans if the threads are chewed.

Just wondering, do you own a torque wrench?

belowfire 07-02-2012 04:38 PM

Dont own one but i can get one easily y?

V 07-02-2012 05:18 PM

do you need a th350 tq arm bracket? I think I may have one

belowfire 07-02-2012 05:23 PM

Not the bracket looking for a crossmember mounted torque ar

coolmanvette75 07-02-2012 05:29 PM

Idk if they make them for third gens but I just got a MWC crossmember and torque arm. Fit like a glove and didnt break the bank

Both issues appear to me as a torque application issue. It is easy to strip aluminum threads.

belowfire 07-03-2012 06:04 AM

The bracket was installed by the trans shop when i got the trans rebuilt so idk

greenformula92 07-03-2012 07:35 AM

I understand what WBT is saying because honestly the thought crossed my mind as well. I have never seen one break like that so I am sure they weren't tourqued properly. That really doesn't matter at this point. Crossmember, and crossmember mpunted tourque are is what you need

BonzoHansen 07-03-2012 07:38 AM

Or the bolts were too short.

belowfire 07-03-2012 11:40 AM

Well friday im buying one from summit when i get paid so no car for a week
