fix one thing and another thing breaks

Well last week had to retape transmission crossmember bolts and then last night my torque arm bracket ripped my bolts out my tail shaft just no luck with this car.

yeah when running a decent amount of power you really need a better torque arm set up. It will help get the power down smoother as well

Yea i know gotta buy one now. Any have a torque for a th350 trans that doesnt bolt to the tail shaft

That would be a crossmember mounted torque arm...

Every issue can be addressed and resolved. but i'd trade one of my 4th gens for the right 3rd gen(mainly an 88/89 white t-top GTA w/digital dash)

wait, what? what did you do? I used one of those years ago in my 82 TA and I had zero issues like that. I don't know if this is a bad luck issue. I forget now, does the bracket bolt to the trans using the 4 tail shaft bolts? Did you use long enough bolts? Did you destroy the TH350 main case?

Bolted to 3 of the tailshaft bolts n ripped the 2 bottom tail shaft bolts out the third ones fine the vracket actual broke where the third bolt goes into trans is saveable

You can put helicoils in the trans if the threads are chewed.

Just wondering, do you own a torque wrench?

Idk if they make them for third gens but I just got a MWC crossmember and torque arm. Fit like a glove and didnt break the bank

Both issues appear to me as a torque application issue. It is easy to strip aluminum threads.

The bracket was installed by the trans shop when i got the trans rebuilt so idk

I understand what WBT is saying because honestly the thought crossed my mind as well. I have never seen one break like that so I am sure they weren't tourqued properly. That really doesn't matter at this point. Crossmember, and crossmember mpunted tourque are is what you need
