yeah only 4th he got into....since hes shifting like a maniac :D, you can see the tailights hop up and down when he goes into 4th

That sounded nice?!?!?! If I weren't so damn mature I'd come over there and slap you guys silly. That car sounded like crap. Went like stink but that didn't sound at all like a Mustang. Ford is almost as picky about their exhaust sound as Ferrari and it doesn't take much to make a stang sound like arse... that fast 05 gt doesn't sound nearly as cool as a stock gt. Also, what's up with the hoping... did the notoriously crappy ford shocks already give up because that isn't normal unless his springs are super soft (which might be the case).
His burnout was really nice. but the sound, YUCK. Sounded like 2 ecotecs next to eachother trying their hardest to pull out into traffic.

Ideally you want to cross the line at the very top of the gear that is 1:1, which in his case is 4th, so he is right on. After that the overdrive gears kill your acceleration. I agree a stocker sounds better and I could drive a golf cart into teh 11's with 4.56's, butt still for bolt ons and gears, not too shabby.....for a stang.

there have been stock internal zo6's in the 11's with just tires. Magnus from hptuners ran high 10's stock internals in his 4.1 gen ls1 powered firebird.

That 1:1 gear thing is too simplistic and generally incorrect. The fastest way down a 1/4 mile with an automatic or SUPERMAN shifting is with the most gears before the shifting time becomes detromental. Example, if I had a 0 time between shifts and a .5 overdrive and had the horsepower to trap 120mph then I'd want some crazy high gears in the rear to let me use all my gears. With more gears you can keep the engine closest to it's peak power. Ideally we'd all have CVT's that kept our engines at the RPM that makes enough horsepower with traction.
I've broken down gear selection to a science, it's what I do with just about everything related to cars :) .

and all this time i thought you were just supposed to overpower the car and get the lowest numerical gearing you could find like my 2.73 geared Z or my 2.93 geared gtp :lol:

Wow....I thought the GTPs got more gear than that. Even the Lumina has a 3.33 final drive :D
