THE Cop Car from hell!

he was ingenious enough to present the police department with a way to both save money and, better yet, actually catch cars on the interstate that would outrun his tired Crown Vic. Just imagine the ridicule you would face if a SUV or import wasted you on the highway.

Laying in wait under the Ultra-Z hood is 346 ci of nitrous sniffing madness. The stock block motor's only internal modification is an SLP LS6 blueprinted oil pump. The engine breathes deep with a set of coated Pacesetter long-tube headers and a Thunder Racing lid with Holley Blue filter. A Texas Speed and Performance cam measuring 233/239 at .050 duration actuates the stock valves and rockers to a .603/.600 lift. The FAST intake and Jantzer 78mm throttle body shove 93 octane into the stock cylinder heads. The craftsmanship displayed by Real Performance Motorsports in installing the Nitrous Express NXL direct port and MAF systems is phenomenal.

The O.E. Concepts Z06R wheels measure 17x9 front and rear and carry Yokohama AVS 100s sized at 275/40ZR/17 on all four corners. At the track, the Z28 uses a set of Mickey Thompson ET Drag slicks measuring in at 29x10.5x15 on the rear for maximum traction. Baer Eradispeed cross-drilled and slotted rotors combined with Hawk pads do wonders for stopping distance and speed-induced brake fade.

BUT...

I wonder, if the rammer on the front bumper is really functional? I mean, come on, our front and rear bumpers are simply crumple zones... in no way are they meant to sustain heavy heavy impact (take my front bumper for instance lol).

If it's functional it's probably welded to the frame, you can see in the photo that it goes through the grille on top and under on the bottom. Nice looking car, but I can't get that scene from Black Sheep out of my head when all the nitrous leaks into the police car and they can't stop laughing lol.

I'd run from him and dare him to light off both stages of nitrous and watch his engine become a pile of molten metal. That's far too much nitrous for a stock bottom end. Pretty but not exactly practical. Oh, and only 3 nitrous bottles. Man, they must not have had two of the big ones.

ahh what are you talking about...big cam, 375 shot with stock injectors & fuel pump...he could hit that all day with no problem lol

Nitrous or not, can't outrun the radio.

I like the look of the car and what it can do, but I question the "cheaper" justification that was given at the top of the thread, unless this was the officers POV that he volunteered to use for duty and off duty.

Yea, I didn't understand how it was cheaper either. Prolly is his own car that he had setup to be a cop car.

The article says he ran a 12.6 before the cam install. He hasn't used the nitrous yet, waiting for aftermarket pump and tuning.

And since were on the critical part of this, whats with all the ads / stickers near the wheel well? I don't tihnk any public property / domain can be used for advertisement. That would suggest an endorsement by the police department.

Ah well, still love the look of the car. A few things there just dont seem right.
