New Headers

So, Just got done with the LT install. Here's a little clip. 1 7/8 LT, ORY, No muffler.

Sound clip

One thing I didn't like is how the #3 and #5 plug wires rested on the primary.

Thanks. They are Hooker Super Comps. Anyone know if the L92 heads spark plug placement different than LS1 style heads? Or does the MSD wires have a longer boot than the OEM stuff? Sorry, just trying to brainstorm on trying to remedy this.

Ditch the stock heat shields. If you really want someting on there get the Taylor "Space Age" boot protectors.

I had the same problem with two boots hitting the headers, I used the space age boots and ditched the factory heat sheild on those too boots and problem solved.

Yup. Spun the number 7 connecting rod. Put two holes on both sides of the block. Replaced the longblock and the turbo is now too small for the displacement. 9.4:1 SCR. Saving up to boost it again!!!

I also went to NAPA and got a two pairs of their last two Heat wraps which looks like the Taylor Space Age stuff. Put two of them on the two problematic plug wires. And will be going to use the other pair for the knock sensor connectors ( had to put the knock sensors on the side of the block since there are no provisions for them in the valley). BTW, the MSD plug wires come with a 45 degree bend.

Thanks again for all your suggestions.

I have the hooker super comps on my car and didn't have this problem but I'm running on stock heads. One thing I noticed was that the end of the msd boot flexes and I was able to bend it far away from the headers.

I never thought about selling it. But if I did, for the whole kit, would probably be around in the 400 range. I was being dumb after I broke the new engine in and tried the kit out with the new displacement. I might have spun the turbo out of tolerance. I wouldn't feel right selling a kit that might be defective. I was being safe and pushed 5lbs.

Well I would be interested in getting a new toy to add to the black hole, maybe rig up a separate oil tank for the turbo since you say it may be defective. But if you wanna sell it, let me know.

Not sure if you found a solution but the boot on the MSD wires BENDS, so ditch the metal thingy and bend that sucker. Try it, I had the same issue and all solved. Sounds great btw.
