My brother and I managed to win the Titusville 4th of July quoit tournament for the 2nd year in a row!
We've won it 3 out of the last 8 years so people are starting to get mad at us and practicing more. There were 31 teams in the tournament this year but a good number are beginners or kids. It's a fun tradition that gets a little competetive. Usually, the reigning champs don't even make it to the final 4 so we didn't expect to do well and didn't even care. But it turned out we were both locked in pretty well and managed to have several blowout games(1st game was a shutout 11-0). The secret to this game is to make sure you have beer and cigars so you have a good time! Winning cash and bragging rights is a bonus!
Here's a picture of the Trenton style quoits we've been throwing at picnics for years. The hubs are set in the ground 21 feet apart and stick up about 4-5 inches. The idea is to get the quoit to ring around the hub.
