Does your car burn this much oil

have a 2000 Ws6 Transam, all done up, mild cam, ported and polished heads, headers, exhaust, 4:10 gears. The whole bit. putting 405RWHP. 11:1 compression. I drive the car pretty hard when I drive it. Uses about a quart of oil every 1000 miles..
It used a quart to quart and half every 3000 miles before the heads and cam so I know the car went through oil already, just seems like a lot now.

Thanks,

Sam

yah that seems like alot of oil consumption even for an ls1...fwiw mine burned less then 1/2 qt every 3k even after my heads/cam...whos heads do you have? What type of valve seals do they use? I've heard teflon seals arent good for street driven cars & can leak a little oil

piston slap and oil consumption...2 things my ss knows very well, i was at about 1QT every 800 miles, i tried going to the dealer but after a few months I wasnt getting anywhere and it wasnt worth it, and i gave up, it has gotten better since then, i'm at about 1 qt every2000 miles now... i used beat on my LS1 alot, but i calmed down lately. i just decided to do a motor swap so i just need my ls1 to last me another 6-7 months. but the oil consumptiuon is a know ls1 issue.

I'm with Bill, find out what kind of vavle seals you have. If they're teflon, get them out of there and get some regualr ones (i.e. not race pieces)
