Rowan for engineering? I thought they were a education major kind of school?

NJIT and Rutgers are both good schools. You should take a shot at Princeton while you are at it. They have one of the best ME programs in the country.

Are you only looking in state? Roger Penske went to Drexel right in Philly and if you are interested in traveling a bit further, Ohio State has the most diverse engineering programs in the country.

"Mr. Rowan" endowed the former Glassboro State College with something over $100 million dollars with the stipulations that it develop a reputable engineering program, become a university, and (surprise!) come up with a new name to reflect its shift from being a "teacher's college". Their engineering program has been gathering some respect recently.

Didn't know that. Never see them listed when I read Formula SAE and Buggy results.

Yea Rowan is top of the list but I prob will not be accepted. And I plan on staying in state, I want to keep my bills to a minimum. But yea, I am excited to be getting out of community college and finishing things up.

College degree = good job = more go fast parts

Is there a particular part of the field you are looking to get into? Automotive? Production? Stress analysis?

ME is a great field because it is versatile.

Not at the moment, I have yet to have any real hands on classes yet so I can't really narrow it down. All of my classes have been math/physics type with no real life labs. But yea, MechE is the best out of the engineering fields.

Nah, state schools are required to start you as a junior if you complete the associates from a community school.

It's worth checking into the specific details of your status as a transfer. My son transferred from a CC to a four year State college. He had a 3.92 GPA and 63 credits at the CC. The state school "accepted" 61 credits. When he registered, it was explained that although his 61 credits were accepted, the college had a requirement that a minimum of 25% of all core courses had to be taken at the state school. The result, an extra 1-2 semesters required to meet the core course requirement and receive a degree. He will graduate as a 3 or 4 semester Senior. It's a tuition enhancement scam many schools use. Be sure you know the fine print.

Good luck! If it interests you, try to get involved in energy since that is the real hot button these days and I imagine will be around for quite a few years.

Let me know if you need any info on RU engineering. In most cases, you won't get that much "hands on" unless you join an organization or get an interesting internship.
