370Z staring just under 30k
Important info
1: 6spd manual standard, 7spd auto optional. Both have throttle bliping trans. Auto trans will have paddels.
2: Optional sport package gives you 14/13.8 rotors with 4/2 pistion calipers
3: 18's standard, Forged 19's optional
4: Smaller then last gen, and a bit lighter.
5: 3.7 liter V6 making 332hp and 270ftlbs.
6: Nissian's funky new design goofs up the overall look of the car
The 350Z is Big Al's favorite Japanese car.

price isn't bad for a pretty sporty car. Look is funky for sure but I'm sure it's just that "new" feeling.
I'll go test drive one for kicks.

30k puts you right into a Camaro SS which gives you all the optional stuff for teh 370Z, standard on the Camaro SS. Probably be about a 400lb difference though.
Its gunna come down to options, quality, and handling. If Camaro can hide its weight and perform better then anyone can imagine, it could take the title as best bang for the buck. Even if the two cars are not in the same class, they will most deffinatly compete for the same people.

Looks like its actually about 3300lbs. Lighter then I thought, but still heavy for its size.

I'm waiting to hear back but I may get a sneak peak at a secret 370Z cross country promotional tour early next year....way before they hit the market. I'll reserve any judgement until then.

i think i've reached a point in my life that i would sacrifice 500 pounds for 2 cylinders and 100hp. therefore from my point of view, the lighter camaro v6 would compete more with teh 370z and since the camaro would be far less expensive, i'd have to consider whether the ride and handling of the Z would be that much better than a base camaro (unless they make a V6 camaro with the SS brakes and suspension). anyone else agree?

I still think they are ugly as sin, just like the GTR, and the exhaust note of that engine, in all 47 applications including the SUV's is godawful. Loud and droney and just annoying. How does it compare performancewise to the Mustang?
