installed my 3.42 rear

I took the 9-bolt out and had to carry both of the rears by myself..heavy, but not THAT bad. My dad got home when I was ready to put the 3.42 in, so he helped me line it all up. The biggest pain in the ass was getting the rusted bolts out. So I finally finished everything this afternoon (had to wait for the paint to dry on the calipers) and I took it for a ride. HUGE difference from the 2.77's. Only problem now is I need traction I tried doing a few launches, first gear no traction, second gear..no traction. So I think tires are on my list of what to do next 8)

boxing in teh arms is easy as hell.
step 1: go to lowes and get 1/8thick, 36inch long, 1.5inch wide strap steel
step 2:cut the steel in half
step 3: put the stock arm upside down in a vise and prep teh rolled edge for welding
step 4: prep the edges of teh strap steel for welding
step 5: c-clamp the steel down to the control arm with the arm squeezed slightly in teh vise
step 6: lay at least 3 beads of weld on each side to hold the strap steel to the arm.

it is really easy to do and shoudl only take about 15mins per arm. for an extra added and helpful step you can get a set of poly bushings to install after you do the welding.

later

sounds good Tim, I may do this. One question though, do you know if I can still buy relocating brackets made for whatever brand of LCA's to accomodate the stock arms and drop them 2"?

All of the LCA's are the same length, the relo brackets aren't made for a specific type of LCA.
