Got a take off WS6 exhaust (some Qs)

Hi people... I have a 1998 V6 Firebird (I really have to get a V8 next!) and well, I currently have a catco cat (3inch) and a magnaflow catback (also 3 inch). If I put on the WS6 rear section (muffler and tips) will it still be real lour cause of the cat or will it be just a bit quieter than the Magnaflow? I am basically changing out the magnaflow muffler/tips and going to put the WS6 one on. I want a little bit of noise but the Magnaflow is just too damn loud (or maybe I am getting old? Hitting 25 soon). lol

Also, if anyone has a sound clip of a high flow cat and a V8 take off on a V6 firebird or camaro it would be much appreciated.

Oh and one more thing. I am having a hard time finding a shop that will weld on my cat (my ex did it and i can hear it leaking) and I need maybe 2 hangers welded onto the take off cause they guy that had it before me on his 99 bird had taken 2 of them off (wish he kept em). I called a place near me and I said do you guys weld and they said what do ya want to weld so I said my cat cause my ex messed it up and its leaking and they were like ummm no. Why did they give me a wierd answer like that??? lol Then later they are like well the guy that welds doesnt come in on saturdays (and i only have off on the weekends, sometimes just sunday). This is the 3rd place i have gone to (or talked too) that wont do what i need done. I just want my cat welded on better (hopefully if i cant i will just put a band clamp on it).

If anyone wants to come down to my house and weld this on for me and help me out i will pay ya. $$ I might actually be serious cause I am shying away from shops and garages because I would rather deal with someone who has my kind of car and enjoys it as much as I do.

Meinekee welded my cat for me. Explain that it's welds to the current cat and not replacing a cat, because that can be a violation of federal law.

If you put on a stock factory rear section it will be a lot quieter, and will sacrifice some performance.

Yeah i told them the cat was on there it just needed to be welded better. I dont mind losing some performance, I mean i dont ever race it or take it to the track, it just looks pretty and somewhat mean. Anyways I am going to as these people that live a few houses down from me if they can weld my cat on for me and stuff like that cause they race sprint cars and are always working on things in the garage. LOL

WS6 Exhaust should be substantially quieter but it will also cost you 5-10HP. 2 reasons they may not weld is it is illegal to change catalytic converteres unless damaged or after a certain mileage (in NY it is 50,000 miles). Also if it is stainless it is a P.I.T.A. to weld stainless.

Actually the mileage limit for replacing cats if not damaged on federal OBD2 cars(1996 and up) is now 80,000 miles. Most shops will send you back to the dealer if under that. The Catco cat is very simular to the factory cat internally
so you willnot see an increase in noise over a stoch GM cat. And yes using a WS6 muffler will quiet down the exhaust noise vs the magnaflow cat. Just keep in mind that the V6 cars use 2 1/2" front pipes while the WS6 uses a 2 3/4" pipe swagged up to 3" by the muffler
