Racer killed Saturday at atco.

Yesterday afternoon, a long time drag racer was killed after going full throttle off the end of the track. All I know is what i've heard, so don't take everything for 100% truth, because I have yet to read anything official, just what people are saying.

What i've heard is that John Lupco in the Highline Automotive dragster went off the end of the track at full throttle yesterday. Some people have said the chutes were pulled, some say they weren't. Apparently there were no skid marks, he never hit the kill switch. A helicopter came, but did not take him away, so he was probably dead on scene. There is some speculation whether he may have had a heart attack during the run (or something similar) that may have been the reason he didn't kill the motor.

Regardless of what actually happened, it's always a loss to the racing community when something like this happens. RIP.

A dzus fastener broke on the scoop which made it tilt back and hold the throttle open. He pulled the shoot and applied the brakes which made the car hop severely. It was just one of those freak things that happen. It's a terrible loss and I'm sure everyone here feels for his family and friends.
