we have those year grand cherokees come into work all the time. great cars. they seem to run forever if they have the 4.0

my friends got a 97 that he beats the piss outa with 121k miles on the original trans...he finally blew the rear tho lol n hes hit so much **** with the front axel that its all twisted BUTTTTTT it still hauls

Yah definitly a straight 6 but i agree, very strong well built motors..

Good trans's too..unless you go back to the 80s wranglers that came with the pugeot trans..lol


Only think i hate is that every time you change the oil you have to dump oil on the starter when you do the filter..

yeah the oil filter is in an odd location. Its the same with my 96 cherokee. 155K miles and it runs like a champ!

155K is nuttin' for the 4.0. There are several guys over on Jeepforum that have over 300K on the original motors! I'm hoping my Cherokee lasts me that long.
