Buying a Bike
Anyone on here know any good tips when looking to buy a used motorcycle?
I can pretty much assume its close to buying a car, going over things such as oils, any drips, scratches, and what-not, but whats different about a bike and some things I should pay attention too?
Anyone want to come with me on Sunday?

If you're looking for a sport bike let me know. I have a friend selling a Suziki Katana that was just gone over by the dealer. He bought it over the summer and now he's selling it because he bought a townhouse.

I already found the bike, its a 02 or 03 (I forgot) Honda CBR 600 F4i in Yellow & Black. The guy is asking $3,500. 19,000 miles, new chain, D&B Slip-On Exhaust, comes with a helmet & stand. I saw the bike real quick at my school and its defenitly been dropped but nothing visually major.
Im going to give the owner a call this weekend and get more info about it.

in '01 i sold my 99 cbrf4 for 2500 with no body kit, i sold the plastics for 1000, so that was 3500 and it had around 9k.
16k miles is pretty high for an '02 but not horrible. find out if it has a salvage history, maybe thats why its cheaper(i bought my 99 as a wreck and rebuilt it and had it inspected to get a clear title)
it sounds like a decent deal, just make sure the forks arent leaking from the seals, chekc the frame for dents, cracks, or damage which might indicate frame damage from the drop. plastics arent a big deal, they can be fixed and painted or replaced at a reasonable price if you shop around enough. when you test ride it, get on it a little just to make sure it doesnt pop out of gear on shifts or such, watch the temp gauge too to be sure the cooling system is good. check tires for any damage too, they arent cheap to replace, about 140 for the front and 180 for the rear. cbrf4 series bikes and f4i(fuel injected) models are very comfortable bikes and have a good amount of power, i think 98hp stock, with a dry weight of around 390.
