What a ****ed up day.
It all started last night around 11:45. I was just about to go to sleep when I got a call from the Road Department supervisor, asking me to come in. Now usually, he will call in everybody in his department first before he goes to other departments. So Im thinking "****, im not gonna get any sleep today", and thats exactly what happened. I borrowed my dads E350 Turbo Diesel truck to get myself there, cuz its weighs alot with all the tools in the back, and I wouldnt slide everywhere. So I have to find a spot to plug the truck in.
I get to where the truck Im plowing with is located, which is a 2003 GMC Diesel. By now its 12:30AM, cuz I had to scrape my dads truck before leaving. And with this kind of plow, there has to be a second man to help put it on. I walked over to the plow, where I was promised help, and everybody left. So I spent 25 minutes in the cold/wind doing what should of been a 5 minute job IF there was another person. Now Im ready to go.
I end up plowing several developments by myself which I spent roughly 7 hours doing. By now its 7:30, and I am ****ing tired. So I grab a few cups of coffee to try and waken my senses. So I call the supervisor and sees whats left on the other side of town (which should of been done), and he says "Oh, about half of it isnt done, so pick a development and work towards the others". Now Im pissed, cuz I really wanna go home and sleep. So I do just that, and 8:30 rolls around. No food is in my system besides M&M's and Doritos. Now, since I work 8 hours, the township pays for my meal, which is $10 for a half hour break (only applicable if your plowing). I told the supervisor Ill skip it and just try to get done. So he tells me "Ok, just plow out town hall and the police station parking lots and you can go home" . I did just that.. by now its 10:00. Im on my way back to the spot I came in, and he calls me to tell me a large area in the town (Port Morris) wasnt done and I need to go there and plow. IM LIKE WTF.... So now im REALLLY aggervated, tired, hungry, and just plain pissed. I ended up getting done at 11:30 .....
...There was still a problem...
Some **** unplugged my dads truck from inside the building to hook up his coffee machine, and I end up spending 25 minutes to get the diesel truck started. I go home, grab some eggs, bacon, and toast (which I woofed down real fast) and went to sleep for 8 hours. $350 I got paid and it wasnt worth it at all. And guess what, I have to get up tomorrow morning to go to work.
I ended up plowing a 1/4 of the township roads, by myself. Usually I'd get some help, but not today. And usually they call about 5 ppl from my department, which I was the only one that was called in. [/rant]

i hate poor management. i would have told the guy to screw himself if he did that. its one thing to be frank with someone and say you have a ****load of work to do, and its another thing to just place a burden upon someone last minute.

Wow. The unplugged truck for a coffee machine would have royally pissed me off. You are a better man for not throwing it across the room.
