Feather-light suspension, Konis just couldn't hold. I'm so glad I took a look inside your showroom doors.

now that everyone is done spending your lottery winnings......lol
what do you wanna do with it? pick up a little pep for around town driving? make it a lot faster and race with it? do simple bolt ons and see what it does?
the biggest question of all, what do you consider fast?
the 60degree V6 is a very solid platform. not a power house stock, but easily upgraded. things like a posi and better rear gears will wake the car right up, fabbing up a "ram air" with a little sheet metal and some mods to the stock air box will help, retuning the computer with a custom chip will find a ton of power, and a mild boost set up with a junkyard or cheap turbo will make a huge difference without spending a million bucks on parts.
there are a lot of options, you jsut have to decide what you wanna do with it and how much time/money you want to spedn doing it.

I would start with supporting mods so that some day you could step up into a V8. Just like tim said you could start with suspension, rear-end with upgraded gears & a posi, and then just the little things like a better air intake set-up.
If your dead set on keeping the 2.8 Im again also going to agree with Tim on doing a junkyard turbo set up. I have a few pictures of one and Im actually pretty impressed on how it was set up. Theirs plenty of space to work with too!

I know I heard ur speach! You were like "honestly how many bolts does it take to hold on a fender?" and " Its not pounds its ounces" I thought of that when I got home I know dont have a ash tray filled with misc screwes and change, no lighter (didnt work, dont smoke, wont let any one smoke in it)

There was a place that sold 3.4 longblocks that all you do is put your current manifold on, bolt everything up and do a quick tune. I forget het site though .. someone might post it

If you are up to it, a cam swap and a little port matching with the heads and intake will wake it up a lot. You should have 3.42 gears and an open rear, so a nice set of 3.73s or 4.10s and a posi will give you a nice boost.
You can also gut the airboxes to allow more airflow, it's a simple procedure. When you take off the air filters you see two flat plastic pieces, they are water shields to keep the engine safe if you like blazing through deep puddles all the time. Either cut those out completely or drill several holes in them to allow more air in.
