Who would be interested in LT1 Headers!?

What’s up guys? My name is Alex the new guy at Quick Time Performance.

While cleaning up inventory in the shop I stumbled across a prototype set of 93-97 LT1 Race Style Long Tube Headers. I personally own a 1995 LT1 Z28, and they immediately sparked my own interest. I spoke with my boss about possible production, but I first need to gather if their would be any serious interest in them incase we actually went ahead with production?

The headers would be stainless steel 1 3/4"x 3" with a polished finish and 02‘ fittings. The price for the race style would approximately run $725.00. After looking at the prototype I can assure that the finished product will definitely be top notch like our very popular high velocity LS1 headers.

If anyone has any questions or comments feel free to respond via posting, PM or Email. I will try and be as prompt as possible! Also if anyone is curious to see any pictures just let me know I will get some up as soon as possible!

Thanks!

*Disclamer* Im going to be posting this exact message on other boards to gather attention to the possibility. So any comments to help me improve my message will be greatly appreciated!!!

That might be a tough sell with the Pacesetter longtubes being so inexpensive. The stainless steel headers would be a selling point, but most guys with these cars don't have the money for expensive headers.

if i wasn't set to order my pacesetters soon, i might take a look, but that is a lot of money for headers...is it with a y-pipe or not?

Hmmm, I would disagree with that statement. My headers fit great and a lot of other guys who have installed them say the same thing. The quality on the Pacesetter stuff is much better than it used to be. All headers have some bad sets made so you can't go off what 1 or 2 people say. You would need to drive your car every day for 5-10 years before having any major problems with the headers(as long as they're coated). Even then, you could get them recoated and still come out way under the Kooks or QTP's. But some people want the stainless no matter what the cost and that's fine. I just think QTP would have a very small audience considering the poor crowd will get Pacesetters or Hookers and the stainless crowd already has the Kooks. I think they would have to be priced in the $500-600 range to take business away from Kooks and get some of the poorer guys to step up beyond the Pacesetters.

cool info... what do you mean about how the quality used to be? maybe thats where i heard about the quality issues...

how come no one mentioned the fact that many of the lt1s are already modded or are at the end of their life and aren't being modded anymore?

From what I've read, when the Pacesetter longtubes first came out for the LT1 there were issues with the #2 tube not being angled correctly and it wouldn't clear the AC hard line or something like that. Their original mid length headers were a thinner gauge metal and had some other issues as well. It seems like the Hooker and JetHot headers got a little worse while the Pacesetters got a little better.

Well since Im allowed to talk like this as a customer on this board. How about these apples:
Hooker Coated $709.99
Kooks 1 3/4 $860.00
" 1 7/8 $1,009.99
TPIS $850

For a polished stainless steel header with High Velocity collecters $725 isnt that bad. Also not many long tube manufactures include Y-pipes at all. Have you guys seen the new LS1 High Velocity Headers? Their a totally new style and blow away the old product in quality. Kooks is good stuff dont get me wrong, but the price isnt what everyone is willing to pay for. QTP's repuation for their LS1 Headers is practically unmatched.

with the success of the high velocity LSx pipes i can't see why the LT1 pipes woudl have any trouble selling if they were avaialble.
the LT1 platform is extremely responsive to opening up exhaust flow. a set of pipes like this would mean big changes in what everyone expects from their exhaust in terms of HP per $.
