Gear is good.
Yes I stole the title from Craig and others, but...
With major help from Paul (SmokingSS) and minor help from Brandon (Brando897345026548250560128375073428), the 4.10/eaton rear, 3.5" aluminum DS with spicer u-joints,and my stock V6 rear spring were installed tonight... more updated to come after tuning for the gears tomorrow... even more updates once I get the TA girdle.

Good to hear Kasey.
How poorly does the car shift now? I bet it's all sorts of confused.

Best of luck w/ the gears.

fwiw when i rescaled for 4.10's the computer says it should be shifting at ~86mph which i think worked out to ~5200 in kasey's car...once he gets dynoed we can see where his peak hp is & determine where we should set the 3-4 shift to occur. He was trapping at ~92mph in the 1/4 and we'd prefer not to have his car shift into od before the traps.

Out of curiosity, why can't he put the shifter in "D" instead of "OD" at the track? I used to do that with my '96 Impala SS. As long as it doesn't hit the rev limiter, it shouldn't shift into the next gear, right?
Another question, is he running taller slicks at the track? When I had 3.73s and the auto in the Monte (stock 26" tall tires), I used to shift around 5K rpms, and would have to shift into OD just before the traps (otherwise she woulda been screaming). With the 4.10s and stock tires, is there enough room on the track to leave it in 3rd assuming a 5200rpm shift point? He might cross the finish line a bit higher.

I would assume that the 5200 RPM shift point is not going to stay, it was just temporary.
Besides, with Kasey's current setup on a 245/50/16 tire, 100 mph is 5375 RPM, and he's not quite ready to hit 100 mph traps yet. A 95 mph trap is just a touch over 5100 RPM.

thats another option but for street purposes most of us leave it in OD so we are going to adjust it slightly...apparently he's swinging by here tonight again so hopefully he'll be taken care of with no further problems.
