how much of a weight break do you think a V6 car on spray would need?

are u gonna give forced induction v6 cars and nitrous v6 cars diff breaks?
it hard to tell without knowing what exactly the class is gonna run.100#;s = a tenth.since james is the big nitrous guy.i would talk with him about wieght if ur gonna do the nitrous/and the supercharged/turbocharged v6 cars on diff wieght breaks
i think setting a v8 weight permenanatly.
and setting a temp v6 wieght would work best.only caus eu dont knwo what the cars are gonna run yet,and leaving it with the abiltiy to be change could mean the diff between v6 cars killing the v8 cars,or the v8 just killing the v6 cars

this way if the v6 cars end up being to fast u can add weight,or if they arent compeitive u can subtract wieght.
i dont see any other way of doing it.cause if u set it permantly and the v6 cars are killing the v8 cars ur gonna be stuck for the season liek that.same goes if its vice versa.
im pretty sure more ppl would be open to that for the first year then a v6 wieght set in stone, just incase that does happen

we are looking at the base weight for the V8 cars to be 3400-3450 most likely, that would leave the V6 guys in the 3300's.
we are trying to keep the weights with in the range of stock, and the difference between V6 and V8 in most generations seems to be about 100lbs.

we are also getting a lot of questions about the base weights and enforcement. all of the tracks that we are in talks with have working certified scales. the idea we are working on for enforcement is:
after each qualifying and elimination pass all heads up competitors will be required to stop at the scales to be checked. should a car come in under weight, we will back the car off the scale, re-zero the scale, and pull the car back on to be rescaled.
during qualifying if the car does not make weight, that pass will not count. if the car is under weight after any elimination run, the car/driver is disqualified and out of the competition.
to keep the brackets even(and avoid broing solo passes), if the car be disqualified was teh winner of a round, the fastest losing car of the same round will be brought and inserted in the vacated spot in the elimination ladder.

does that sound good for weight enforcement?

we are going to make more concrete announcements on the weights themselves soon, jsut doing a little more research before we try to finalize anything.

if a car is dq'ed due to wieght, the car that person ran should be brought back.not the fastest losing car of the round

edit btw any updates on the v6 rules

right now it is looking like it will be nitrous and a weight break. i am still looking for a way to equalize the field to allow for turbo motors, not having much luck though.
rules will be finalized and announced in mid september, so you may wanna jsut get the rest of the car prepped and look at the motor decisions then.

got another inquiry about the weight ruels, concerning points being awarded.
if a car is dq'ed after winning an elimination round, they will not receive points for that round.
does that sound fair?
also, i was asked if the points collected in rounds prvious to being dq'ed shoudl stand, my feeling is that if the car was legal then the driver should not be punished for those rounds, they only need to be held accountable for the time of the infraction. does that make sense or am i off base?

-thanks

hey time why dont u wait till the nats in august.then u can see what a street legal turbo v6 will do,mines pushed to about the max and still wont break 12.0 @ 3,000 pounds.still not competitive with a h/c 4thgen/or a bigblock car in purestreet.and the 4thgen v6 guys arent doing much better with the engines pushed to the max.

the rules wont' be finalized until mid september. so any formula to allow turbo'ed v6 cars would have to be worked out by then.
right now the turbo V6 thing is looking very unlikely. most likely allowance for V6 cars will be a single plate/nozzle system with 1 fuel and 1 nitrous solenoid and a nice weight break.
i am not trying to be turbophobic about the rules, jsut can't find a reasonable way to balance boost with N/A motors and have it be fair for everyone invovled.

the problem is everyone hears turbo and gets all scared.the fact of the matter is the cars just arent going to dominate.and will be hard pressed to be compeitive anyway.and how many v6 turbo cars do u really expect.1-3 possibly.the v6 cars
cannot run faster then 12.0 with oem heads and blocks its been proven time and time again.

how do u come up with oh the v6 cars will dominate when we cant even consitantly run 11.90's.on nitrous and turbo yeah it can be done.but the rules dont alow 2 power adders.i dont see what the big problem is

The big problem is TTAs. It would be silly to write the rule only for 60* and Series II 90* motors, and say the TTA guys are stuck following V8 rules.

its alright,im building a new engine to go Super Pro next year.if u guys come up with some sort of rules ill run,but even if u do my motor will prolly be illegal anyway. unless the new motor will run fast enough to run hot street.

Guys not rain your parade but what about weight breaks for small and big block cars in the same class? I would hate too run a standard 23 degree small block against some 565 cubic inch big block at the same weight. Also in some of the faster classes why not let N/A cars have a decent weight break. Usually in NMCA and NSCA they give N/A cars a huge weight break. With the rules this far open you might get someone to show up who wants a test session and bang out some low 8 second passes and really ruin the classes for the rest of the people. This would also scare people away from coming since they know they won't be competitive. I know rules are tough to enforce with a limited supply of people, but this could get out of hand quickly. A perfect example is the red Camaro of Drag Radial King, that is an 8 second ride that is pretty tame and fits into any class depending on weight. Good luck with this, I will support this series in the area and show up to race.

i run 12.0-12.3 with a 3465 race wight and nearly stock heads, the 3.8 4 gen is no where near it max, there are like 3 of them in the 9's and many low 10 second car, they are all FWD gtp or gt's, yes its the same motor

Thanks for your input Ken. We realize that these rules are far from complete, they won't be finalized until sometime in September.

having weight breaks based on CID is something that has been discussed. if anyone knows of a good tool/test method that is not too time consuming please let me know. having a reliable method to test is about the only thing that prevents us from creating and enforcing such rules.

neither form of spraying or dry ice would be legal in hot street. the rules allow for a single intercooler, so the air to air would be it.
