Whats any one's opinion on the GMR Twin Turbo setup for LS1 Camaros?

Been researching and i am looking for a turbo buildup. Was initially considering a STS rear mount. Could still be in the cards, but right now, my main focus in on the GMR Twin Turbo setup. I went to their website and saw their setup with a forged 370 ci engine making 700+ rwhp on 93 octane with a FMIC. Needless to say, i was very inpressed. I mean i have seen turbo cars making impressive power, but the fact that it was that much hp on Premium pump gas was a shocker. REally makes me want that setup. They are doing this 370 forged package with turbo included for a little uner 16000.00. I think it am going to do it. But i am not completely sure yet. Just out of curiosity, what kind of track times do you figure you can put down in the 1/4 with 725 Rwhp and 700+rwtq? Assuming its a built auto tranny with converter, and slicks, an all neccessary suspension mods? Also, give some opinions on the setup.
I don't hear to many people comment on it. I know its a new system and not many have bought it, but what can you gather?

I've heard some good things about that and the hi flo kits by researching around a bit but i also hear that once u hand them a deposit they take thier timemaking your kit because they are "busy" so some people are very pissed off at hi flo right now idk about gmr but it sounds like a really nice kit personally if i ever go that route id go with a single turbo though

For 1/2 the money my 370 made almost the same HP on pump gas and runs in the 9's consistantly.

gmr single turbo might be just as for a track car. twin turbos are usually better off for the street IIRC. GMR is a great company and their prices are impossible to beat. if i had the money to go turbo i would do a gmr single kit with a nice big turbo

HI FLO IS OUT OF BUSINESS AND IS BEING INVESTIGATED BY THE FEDS. DONT EVEN THINK ABOUT THEM.

Oh yeah, i wouldn't even think about considering hi flo turbo setup with their reviews they have been getting. I have heard the few people that got the GMR twin setup were very happy. Its not a lot to go on, but so far, i haven't heard any bad news yet. As far as NOS, i thought about it, but i just don't trust it. I know its become more stable over the years with NOS setups, but i just don't want to go down that road. I mean from a standpoint, its a hell of a lot cheaper, but i think i am going to go the way of a charger.

You have to ask yourself if a increase of 400 horse is worth 16,000 (plus the cost of the engine work if you make it a 370). In all honestness I think you could build an insane LSx for less money and make the same about of power, but I am probably wrong.

bore and stroke that **** with a sick heads and cam setup and then add a lil spray for good measure

You dont know enough about it if you call it NOS

Its N20 or nitrous and my car has been going mid10's to mid 9's for 2 years with NO problems

If you think you cant hurt the motor with a turbo your crazy.

boost is always fun. if you have the money i dont see why not with going with a nice budget iron 6.0 motor with forged internals and a single turbo kit. build up just as much HP with less money and less weight then a silly twin turbo kit.

a high quality stroker motor may end up costing just as much as a iron motor turbo build up and in the end you still need a nitrous system and you need to keep fillin up the tank.

but then again, this is what i would do. you guys aren't all Jacob so there will be a difference of opinion

I gotta ask you guys, do you think i would be able to make as much hp and torque as the twin turbo system made at 93 octane with a single turbo kit they build? I am not sure, but don't twins also spool faster than a single? I just heard that somewhere, i don't know if there is any truth to that. ]

I mean the sole purpose of considering the twin turbo kit over the rear mount was cause its a twin turbo kit (not single). But then that brings me to my next question, if a rear mount is a sinlge turbo, then would a rear mount make the some amount of power on 93 octane than a front mount single turbo would? I am trying to figure out which setup would make the best power on Premium gas. I'n guessing the rear mount would require things such as methanol and race fuel.

i had to break it down cause i got confused.

1. negligable difference IIRC but a twin turbo setup would create a wider powerband

2. yes indeed! thats why they make such a good street setup. power everywhere!

3. front mount makes more power cause its much more efficient then a rear mount granted all other factors are held constant

4. its actually reversed cause rear mounts dont need as much cooling cause they are farther from the engine. people with either setup usually do intercoolers and meth injection when they go high boost to keep everything in check

twin turbos spool faster because a. its either sequential set up or b. turbos are smaller then used in single application. no rocket science here.

99% of the time a large single turbo will make more peak power than two smaller turbos. If you're building a drag car, big single turbo all the way. but if you're building a street car either twin turbo it, centrifugal supercharge it or go with a smaller single turbo.

Thank you all for clarifying that. That was a big help. I guess it should go the route of a twin turbo. It would be mostly street driven. Maybe taken to the track once or twice a year. But mostly in the garage, and a few joys rides throughout the weeks.
