Screw the beach!
Next time I think about heading to the beach, someone smack me please! We left at 11am this morning with my mountain bike on the rack on the back of the 4Runner and 2 hours later arrived at Beach Haven! The worst part was that I had to pass several cars/trucks with the 18 year old 4Runner with 150K miles on it! Ummmm, the speed limit is 55, so why are you doing 40-45 and holding up a line of 30 cars? Some ass towing a sailboat was barely doing 45 down 539. And some people were scared to try and pass. So I had to get a decent gap going in front of me and drop it to 4th and get some momentemum going and pass 3 cars at 1 time! Woohoo, Toyota FTW! Then, the traffic getting on LBI was crazy and then people driving down the island were doing 15-20 mph! So we finally made it. Rode the bike around for a couple of hours, jumped in the ocean where the lifeguards had everyone jammed into a 50 foot width(and the water temp had to be near 80)! Made it to happy hour and kicked back for a couple of hours. Then the drive home..... Nobody wanted to do the speed limit and again we ran into somebody doing 45 in a 55 zone. 4Runner to the rescue again with the pass! Then I end up getting multiple ******** behind me who don't know that their highbeams are on blinding me. I had to let one guy by me on 195 so I could jump back behind him and hit him with my highbeams! I thought we were going to have a serious battle after that. But his big ole Ford couldn't keep up with the 4Runner and he faded away in the traffic behind me. I am so stressed out from the trip down and the trip back that it will take more beer than I have in the house to calm me down. So next time I think about going to the beach, somebody smack me!
And anyone that gets passed by an 18 year old 4Runner should immediately pull off the road and apologize to everyone they were holding up!

sounds like me driving on 206 down to school. I'm sure eric can relate! You get stuck behind someone doing 50, then someone doing 50 who doesn't want to pass them and you gotta go down to 2nd, start passing them, and by the time you're around the first car you're doing 90
EDIT: call me gay but I remember that's actually how I originally met eric.. on 206 at a stop light or was that rt. 30....

You can't really get to any on the island areas easily on a weekend unless you leave real early(before 7am) or head down at like 2pm. Traffic getting onto the islands is one thing, but the people doing 45 mph in a 55 zone should not even be on the road!

i literally live 5 miles from the beach and i never go there. i guess it's true that you don't know what you have till it's gone. i don't really mind going down to the inlet in the fall and winter when all the bennies have gone home. which should be in about 3 weeks thank god!!!
