got my new heads
ok heres the deal i got my new heads and they were supposed to be gen3's with D port ex ports and a slightly larger valve.but they turned out to be gen 2 heads with a round ex port and a .040 smaller intake valve.
was a lil pissed till i looked up the flow numbers.the gen 3 heads avg around 20 cfm more then the gen 2's on the intake, but they lose 6-10 cfm on the ex side.
so now i have no idea which heads i want to run
heres some flow sheets(granted these wont mean **** once there ported but this gives u an idea of what they flow stock)
stock iron heads

gen2 aluminum heads

and gen 3 aluminum

now should i go for max flow with the gen 3's or use the better flowing at low lift gen 2's

better flowing at low lift. you're gonna be forcing air in anyway, so it really wont matter too much on the top end.

thats what i figured but all the ppl over at ftv6 and thirdgen are saying its a waste to use the gen2's and id be wasting my time.wanted to see if somone could give a valid reason.other then they flow better at higher lift

Most of the W-body guys prefer Gen 3's for boost. turbo 3.1s with 3x00 top end swaps are getting pretty popular.

well the gains on the intake on the gen 3's are hurt by the cfm loss on the ex side.so im sticking with my gen 2's i can get my intake side to flow the same with a simple valve swap to the same size valve as the gen3.and my ex side already outflows the gen 3.there out to be ported and remachined for .650 lift
/and ls1 valve springs/and sbc studs installed so i can use my full roller 1.6 rockers on them.
