DON'T GO TO TTP FOR INSTALLS

I recently had a problem with my car over heating after trips lasting more then 30minutes of road time. At first I thought it was a random accurance since it was during our mini heat wave last week. I had the radiator flushed by a local Chevy dealership because the anti-freeze was **** brown in color. I thought the problem was fixed, and I continued to drive the car during the week. Well tonight I just came back from a quick trip around town and my car started to rise in temperature. I let it sit outside, and about an hour or two later I jumped back into my car only to see the temps instantly rise into the RED! Obviously something was seriously wrong, so I turned off the car and poped the hood open only to NOT hear my Meize electric water pump running at all. I had a problem with it once before and it turned out to be a faulty relay, so I started checking fuses to open up my fuse box to discover the most Ghetto Rigged wiring I have ever seen in my life. The main power lead off the pumps relay was just layed into a fuse area wedged in by a fuse! What happened was the wire wiggled loose losing contact within the fuse box causing the water pump not to come on.

From left to right: Secondary Fuse, Fuse box and wires, Relay

Fuse slot

How the wire was layed into the slot frayed and dangeling

END RESULT OF CRAPPY RADIATOR FLUID

As many of you already know I don't do alot of my own work on my car. This electric water pump was installed by TTPerformance in Clifton (a site sponsor). I did not leave there a satisfied customer the first time. I had nothing but problems, and I heard through a former employee that the car was rediculed for being an LT1 something they do not regularly work on. ("LTFun" was written in dust on my hood since the car sat there for well over a month)

I honestly don't know what else to say but to just stay away from these people, Ive heard alot of bad things and this just goes to show the quality they put into peoples car. I payed top dollar for this install only to find out how badly I was ripped off....

The entire system was just flushed on Friday by Hawthorne Chevy, It was probably Dexcool, but the point is it shouldn't have gotten to be any other color. Their faulty wiring caused my car to over heat on the road twice!

unless someone put green antifreeze ina dexool car at one point in time. that will turn in mucky and brown in no time. and getting it flushed once by a shop..even if its on a machine isnt going to get all that out

The wiring part is just sad. Its amazing who people hire and trust to work on peoples cars. Id bring it up with TTP and make sure something is done about it. If not have the wiring done properly elsewhere and submit your bill to ttp, or take a trip to small claims court. ;x

if you leave dexcool in for a long time, it turns into brown **** too. my rad cap was covered in it, it was pretty gross. i flushed my radiator and i looked int he bucket afterwards, i could see little chunks of what looks like light mud floating in it

They just won't work on it period, they will probably just ignore all request or calls, it took me over a month to get the ball rolling on getting work done to my own car even after I put down a deposit on parts. IMO thats bad buisness.

Thats actually pretty surpising to hear from TTP. I had a spec clutch installed along with a new rear main seal. They were very courteous and professional in my experience. I certainly got the drift that they really don't like messing with the LT1's but everything went just fine with my install. Sucks you had a crappy experience.

even if thats true thats still no excuse for sloppy work, how they wired it like crap has nothing to do with it being an LT1, just plain ****** work

Well I have met Matt the owner of the shop 2 times. Very professional. I do know you are right about one thing TTP does specialize in LS1's. All my LT1 stuff i do myself because there arent to many shops left that specialize in LT1 performance anymore. I have only taken my LS1 there never had problems. Im sure if you let Matt know about everything you went thru he would prob try to correct it. Sorry this happened to you man
