Help me pick valve springs

For a vortec head with a cam that has .520 lift

First, are the heads machined for that much lift? if not, are you running a lower profile retainer to add clearance? Roller cam? Flat tappet? Hydraulic? Solid?

flat tappet, yes the heads will be machined..

this is just to get an idea of the cost for springs since pace vortec heads with steamholes are 285, while the zz5 vortec(machined and springs for .550 lift) and steam holes are 385 so I can save $200 I allready had a member offer me the use of his tools and some guidance..

go to the website of whatever comapny made the cam, look up the cam part number. all the major companies put the associated recomended part number for springs, lifters, pushrods....all that stuff right with their cam information.

729,73 for vortecs with steam holes, the cams recomended springs and screw in studs
shipping


vs

769.90 for zz5 vortecs for up to .550 lift..Im going to get shiping prices to calculate..
