strange noise about 45 min ago...
i was messing with stuff in my garage a little before 2 pm today and suddenly there was this very unsual noise... almost like a thumping/pulsating but real close, and basically to the point you couldnt even talk and be heard. At first the noise was accompanied with like a slight cloud of smoke but at the noise continued for about 15 min, the haze went away, very odd. after about 30 min, the noise stopped just as suddenly as it had started... almost like on cue.... i havent heard anything like that in my area in over 1.5 years....

1500 is about 3 months driving! Where the heck do you guys drive to all the time? Oh, and congrats on getting the car back up and running. So what are the specs on it now?

Not counting strictly tuning miles, I think it's gonna be more like 15 than 1500

the startup was pretty uneventful.. only one little issue popped up. when i first started it, it was running for maybe 2 minutes at most, and i noticed a snapping/clicking noise coming from the passenger side of the engine, around the valve cover. about the same time i noticed the check engine light flashing, so i shut it off and scanned it immediately. it was a misfire detected code, i then found the cause, one plug wire was off the coil, the clicking noise was the coil arcing. i put the wire back on and fired it up again. it was only off for maybe 45 seconds total so i wasnt worried about stuff cooling down and heating up again. then i let it run for about 30 minutes, no codes came up, no fluids leaked, no odd noises. i was actually impressed. now i just have to bleed the brakes and clutch and mess with the y pipe a little more. Then ill focus on tuning it really. All i did with the tune was to delete any codes that would pop up... AIR, O2s..etc. and put the values in for the larger injectors. As for some of the idle settings, i looked at a tune for a car with a ported TB, t-rex cam and LTs, and copied some of the idle parameters. the trex is only slightly bigger than my cam and i just wanted it to idle so i could verify the engine itself had no issues or leaks. i didnt even touch any of the pe or ve tables yet. My main thing was to know it will run and that everythign was connected right, all hoses tight etc, how good it ran.. wasnt my first goal, lol, that can be adjusted now.

i hear those msd coils can be troublesome with the wires. make sure they snap on good. but otherwise i think its not too far away from being driven.
