Only run solid motor mounts for race only or very high horsepowered cars.

Solid motor mounts to drop weight? How strapped for weight savings are you?

not really, just an added perk. i feel like everyone on this thread quickly shut them out but probably never ridden in a car with them. they usually only make vibrations at idle.

Yeah, I have. Moroso solid motor and trans mounts in my brother's 600hp Chevelle. I was even the one that installed them. The car also has poly body mounts instead of rubber. I don't think they are rattle-your-teeth-out bad but I can see how they would get annoying if you drive the car on the street a lot. Personally, I would only install these when you have to for power handling reasons- NOT to save weight. That would be like driving around on skinnies in a 13 second ride, it's just not necessary at that point. There are plenty of other ways to save weight.

I also don't know how they would work in a car with knock sensors, maybe someone else can chime in.

i'm not really in it for the weight savings, just for the feel (responsiveness) i was hoping someone did a swap from poly to solid in a ls1 which i assume is far more tame then a 600hp carb motor. also i hear the poly mounts are a pain in the butt to install in the shell. solid mounts (i assume) would be more of a direct bolt in

lol they don't... i believe you would have to override them with a tuning program of some sort

Yeah, I'm just checking in with what I know about the topic... I don't remember, are there any other components dampening engine vibration through the body (rubber biscuits anywhere) or are the motor mounts the only thing? What type of power level are you at?

i'm not sure if the fbody has the rubber biscuits on the body, i never really checked, but i doubt it. i'm gonna be slightly over 400whp, but in any event i'm just gonna stick it out for the polys and possibly upgrade later. no point in the worry for the minimum gains. thanks though.

Why would you want to keep rubber body biscuits in an F-body? Its a uni-body car, toss them and install aluminum ones and stiffen the car up.
If your parts are falling apart try this:

1) Locktite

2) Nylock Nuts

3) Lock washers

Any of the above!

You ant 400whp, or 500hp at the flywheel and you're concerned about feeling it in the drivers compartment?
You better put quiet exhaust on it to, otherwise you're hear it when you step on the pedal....OH NO it might HURT YOUR EARS!

nothing is falling apart, i'm just upgrading the rubber motor mounts and bought polys. before i install them, i decided to exercise the idea of solids. maybe i'll switch to solids when i get a new k-member and A-arms. i'll just stick with the poly for now
