I think the 10 bolt finally bit it....

Drivin to my buddies house the other night I went around a right turn at like 15 mph....went to accel out of it(driving normally) and the rear made a pop and the car kind of jumped to the side. It now does this on left and right turns quite friquently....Long story short, my limited slip feels like its a locker.

I'm pullin it appart tomorrow. I'll be sure to keep everyone posted and possibly have pics of any carnage.

If you catch it before it damages the gear set you might be able to get away with replacing the posi unit only.

Or you could just get a 12 bolt..

one thing nice about a Torsen, you get a warning sometimes. My Auburn unit just went Boom and I could not move.

sounds like worn spider gears in an auburn, thats easy to fix if you gotz the tools and a new set of spiders, pull the inspection cover and check it out

If memory serves, pre 99 cars came with an Auburn and 1999+ cars came with the Zexel-Torsen differential.

Torsens are not rebuildable. Are you sure its a torsen? Jack the back of the car up, with the car off put the trans into 1st, make sure the e-brake is off and spin the passenger tire forward. If the drivers side tire spins the opposite direction (similar to an open rear) you have yourself a torsen. If the wheels dont spin at all, its an auburn, now take the car out of gear and spin the tire, the other tire will now spin in the same direction as the tire you are spinning. check ebay for carriers. I have one in my garage if you need it PM me

that too. i was just giving options that wouldnt involve removing the inspection cover and draining the rear etc. but yes, auburns are noticably different than torsens.

Are you planning on replacing the ring and pinion?

finally got all my parts and threw everything back together....so far so good.

found out that the side gear that slides and engages/disengages the drivers side axle is frozen solid in the career. haha
