Yay, jury duty again!
I must be the ultimate peer because once again I was picked to be on the jury. But on the upside, today was my first day off of work all year so far! Looks like I'm stuck for a few days, it's a good thing there's a bar around the corner from the courthouse!

I hate country duty last year. I almost got picked for a trial, but I told them I was friends with a trenton cop - I was out!

i wanna know how the jury duty system works. my brother has been on a variety of state and federal jury pools or anels or whatever they call them over the years. he seriously goes about every other year.
i have only been called once in my life, freshman year of college. i didn't have to go since i was enroled in classes at towson state(baltimore, md) at the time and let them know. although it was interesting explaining to the government numb nut on the phone that i couldn't make jury duty cause i wasn't in new jersey. she wanted proof, i asked if she had caller ID to see where i was calling from. lol

i believe i am permanently removed from the available pool list (at least i hope so). i can't sit that long because of my back, so i returned their mandate that i appear on such-and-such-date with the doctor's phone number on it. they sent a letter about two weeks later saying i was excused from that date. of course, they might think i am better in a coupla years and decide to call on me again.
next time i will show my support of communism or something in order to get out of it. anytime someone tells me that they have a trial in front of a jury, all i keep thinking about is that joke i heard years ago:
a jury of your peers? huh, twelve people deciding your fate who couldn't get out of jury duty...

i don't think i would mind jury duty. lowe's is very supportive of stuff like that and will pay me my days salary for any day i have to serve that i normally would have worked. it doesn't matter how long the trial or lasts eitehr, they keep paying.
all the benfits of getting paid to work without actualy having to be there. something in a trial has to be more interesting than the brand of stupid i see everyday at work.

You can't serve jury duty more than once every 3 years. They base it on driver's license, voting, paying taxes(I thought they said property) and homestead rebate now. It's a good experience and if work pays for it then it's basically time off work. Plus, I get a longer lunch while on jury duty and I can stop at the MillHill Saloon!

Lately? No, I'm just a beer connoisseur. We have beer on tap at home in a small 1/6 keg that we get filled at the local microbrewery in Princeton. I enjoy kicking back with a nice fresh pint or 2 of beer. I used to be able to put down more on a Friday night but I'm lucky to make it through 3 beers/drinks on a Friday. I'm slowing down with old age!
As for the jury duty, it's finished. And I'll just say that some of you guys need to pay a little more attention and act smarter while driving or you will most likely end up in court. This is the 2nd traffic related trial I've been on in the last 3-1/2 years.
